Taylor Tomlinson (0:03)

Hi, my name is Taylor Tomlinson, and I feel gobsmacked about being Conan O'Brien's friend.

Conan O'Brien (0:12)

Gobsmacked is good, right?

Taylor Tomlinson (0:13)

My second choice was flummoxed. I'm confused.

Conan O'Brien (0:17)

I should have stuck with gobsmacked.

Hey there, and welcome to Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend. Conan here, son of Sessian.

Sona Movsesian (0:46)

Hello.

Conan O'Brien (0:47)

And, okay.

Matt Gourley (0:49)

Business casual.

Conan O'Brien (0:50)

Wow, she's out for the kill.

Sona Movsesian (0:52)

Hello.

Conan O'Brien (0:52)

And of course, Matt Gourley. Hello. We have exciting news, which is Sona, you have a book out.

Sona Movsesian (1:02)

I do.

Conan O'Brien (1:02)

A new book.

Matt Gourley (1:03)

Second book.

Sona Movsesian (1:04)

My second book.

Matt Gourley (1:06)

Book two.

Conan O'Brien (1:06)

This is incredible.

Sona Movsesian (1:07)

Yeah.

Conan O'Brien (1:08)

Tell us about this book.

Sona Movsesian (1:09)

Well, my first book was called The World's Worst Assistant.

Conan O'Brien (1:13)

Yes, yes. I agree with the title.

Sona Movsesian (1:14)

Yeah, thank you. Everything that you wrote. The thesis holds. Yeah.

Conan O'Brien (1:20)

But that book was a big success.

And really funny and cool. Now you're back for round two. And tell us about this book.

Sona Movsesian (1:29)

This one's called The World's Worst Mom.

Conan O'Brien (1:31)

Yes.

Sona Movsesian (1:32)

So it's pretty much carrying on with the same theme of, I don't know what I'm doing. And at this time, the stakes are higher. No offense. But the stakes are a lot higher.

Conan O'Brien (1:40)

Wait, why do you think they're higher?

Sona Movsesian (1:41)

Because they're like humans I created as opposed to, inheriting someone else's creation. Someone else's damage. It's like you're Frankenstein.

Frankenstein's monster.

SPEAKER_6 (1:53)

Yeah.

Conan O'Brien (1:54)

Okay. I understand that.

These are your progeny.

SPEAKER_6 (1:59)

Yes.

Conan O'Brien (1:59)

These are your genetic bundles. So you care about them more than-

Sona Movsesian (2:03)

My genetic bundles.

SPEAKER_6 (2:04)

Yeah.

Sona Movsesian (2:04)

Yeah. No, you're right. They're my genetic bundle. Those are my kids.

Matt Gourley (2:07)

That's what you call your kids.

Sona Movsesian (2:09)

I do.

Conan O'Brien (2:10)

Genetic bundle, other genetic bundle.

We get along great. So what is the process of getting the word out on this book, Ben?

Sona Movsesian (2:21)

Well, you're not involved this time. So as in you didn't write the foreword, it's not about my time working for you. So this is the first time I've done anything that's just me and being a mom and stuff. It's very weird and very different.

Conan O'Brien (2:35)

And when you do other giant crowds and they start shouting, Where's Conan?

Sona Movsesian (2:39)

Yeah, people get violent.

SPEAKER_6 (2:41)

Yeah, good.

Sona Movsesian (2:42)

Guess what?

Conan O'Brien (2:43)

That's me in the crowd, by the way. I put on fake mustaches and ladies bonnets.

Where's Conan?

SPEAKER_6 (2:50)

Both at the same time.

Conan O'Brien (2:51)

Yeah. Where's Conan? I am bearded man.

Sona Movsesian (2:54)

But I do realize I don't like doing things without you, if that's cool. I'm just gonna ride this.

Conan O'Brien (3:01)

Well, we have a good time together.

Sona Movsesian (3:02)

I'm gonna ride your coattails forever.

Conan O'Brien (3:03)

Yes, but you've written a very, I've read this book, it's really funny.

Sona Movsesian (3:07)

Thank you.

Conan O'Brien (3:08)

And the artwork is great.

Sona Movsesian (3:10)

That's tack.

Conan O'Brien (3:10)

I know.

Sona Movsesian (3:11)

Yeah, that's tack. And the guy who helped me, cause I can't do social media stuff. My friend Brad helped me with social media stuff, cause I need help from other people to do things. But no, I mean, this book took me two years to write. When I first started writing it, like I had my house and I lost my house throughout the whole process. So it's been really fun. It's like a fun documentation of my time as a mom. And becoming a mom.

Conan O'Brien (3:36)

Now, do you have to hit the road soon and start making appearances in different places?

Sona Movsesian (3:40)

Yeah, tonight I'm at Largo with Flanny. Oh, that's so cool. Yeah, yeah. And Laurie Kilmartin is going to be there. One of your old writers who also works with you on the Oscars.

Conan O'Brien (3:49)

Laurie Kilmartin, one of the best comedy writers I know.

Sona Movsesian (3:52)

Yeah, and she wrote a book called Shitty Mom that came out a few years ago. Oh, wow. So she and I are going to have like a conversation at Largo. Then tomorrow I'm in Seattle and I'm going to see your father-in-law.
