From the Motor Enclave in Tampa, Florida, this is the Adam Carolla Show. Today, we got the news with Rudy Pavich, and then we'll check in live with the Ace Man at the Motor Enclave in Tampa.

**Adam Carolla** (0:53)
Now we're on the road. I'm with Rudy Pavich. We're right about Tampa, Florida. So we're going to do things that are hot from the headlines. With Rudy, I will say a little, something before we get started with the news. And you probably want to start your timer as well.
Travel is weird. Travel brings out all the eccentricities of life. But it brings out all the little bothersome things in life, I guess, is little stupid stuff. Like I was in West Palm. I was doing Hannity's podcast show there. And then I was going to get in a car, a rental car. I was going to go from West Palm to Tampa, where we are. 200 mile, 200 mile drive.
They have a car reserved for me at the Hertz rental car.
And it just goes to show that everyone needs to check everything all the time. Because it's like there's a car for me at the Hertz rental place four miles away. Okay, fine. I'll just jump in the car. I don't care what it is. Get in there. I got a 200 mile ride ahead of me. The guy goes, I see you requested an electric car. I go, I didn't request an electric car. Well, it says here, you requested an electric car. I don't know who the fuck requests an electric car when you're renting a car. It's kind of the opposite of that. You went range and fuel as well.

**Rudy Pavich** (2:24)
Yeah.

**Adam Carolla** (2:25)
You reserved an electric car. I'm like, I don't know who specifically would go, Mr. Carolla needs a rental car and it must be electric.

**Rudy Pavich** (2:34)
Well, anybody who's ever taken a trip longer than 50 miles in a electric car will immediately make sure that they never get another electric car on the road ever again.

**Adam Carolla** (2:43)
I go, I don't want an electric car. He goes, well, you got one. And then that's all we got. And I'm like, I got to go 200 miles. And then I started thinking about it. I'm like, okay, it's probably 250, 275 Like a Tesla is like 325 at least. That's what it says. Now look, knock 15, 25% off of what they tell you the range is. It's all highway 70 miles an hour from where I am to Tampa. So I know how fast those miles scrub off. Like I drove out to the desert to do a car thing in my all electric Audi. It was like 110 miles away. You get on the freeway, you go, oh, the destination's 40 miles and I got 85 miles on the range. You're going 75 miles an hour. You look down, you covered seven miles. It scrubbed off 23 miles. Like it goes fast. So I go, okay.
I get in the car, it's fully charged. It has 230 I'm like 230 That doesn't feel like enough to get me. And by the way, I am lame. Just use your app and find a charging station on your way to Tampa. Never gonna happen with me. So I'm just like...
And also the other thing too is nobody says anything. The car is a pole star. It's an all electric...
It's a company that contracts with Volvo, but you get into this electric car, it's like out of a movie. It's 108 degrees outside. It's an all black interior. It's not parked under an awning or anything. And I get in and it's Florida hot. And I just immediately start sweating. There's no start button. There's no anything on a pole. You look at it and you start pushing radio knobs. And you start it, I think, by taking the turn indicator and pushing it in. There's nothing that says start. There's no green button. There's no anything. God forbid the guy behind the counter, it hurts, would go, it's a little bit tricky with the electric car. It's on the left side of the column. Like there's nothing. You just get in the car, you stare at the car, sweat just dripping down my forehead, sitting in this old black interior, hot earned snot in there. And through the grace of God, I get the thing started, I think, but you never know. And then the shifting thing, it doesn't even light up. It just says like P, R, and I'm like just pulling it, trying to figure out, I have no idea what I'm doing in this stupid car. Now, first off, I don't know what percentage of Americans drive a Polestar.
