Paul Maoate joins us on the line, thanks to our friends at the TAB. TAB.co.nz is where you can go and watch and bet live on your favorite sports. Paulie, good morning to you.
Paul Maoate (0:25)
Yeah, morning, Summa. I could have saved us a couple of minutes there if you want to know what the weather's like, from the look outside your window.
Scotty (0:31)
Very nice, but that wouldn't please Massey Ferguson, because that wouldn't give them enough credit for having no repayments till April 2027
Now, I would love no repayments on my TAB counting till April 2027, but that's not the case. Big game of NFL coming up at 1.15 this morning.
Or what, this afternoon, should I say?
Paul Maoate (0:47)
This afternoon, yes, indeed, this afternoon. It'll be the morning somewhere in the world. Yes, the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers host the Washington Commanders. The 49ers, $1.25, commanders $4.
They're 7.5 point favorites at home, the 49ers. The commanders coming to this, remember, last weekend, they were playing the New York Giants. They had the ball. There were a few seconds left on the clock. If they stopped the clock, they could have had a field goal and won the game. No, there was a... So I hope that Jaden Daniels has bought himself a watch so that he knows exactly how much time is left on the clock against the 49ers today.
But money... In fact, there are quite a few multies finishing on the San Francisco 49ers later on today. So plenty of punters will be cheering for the 49ers to continue that unbeaten streak that they're on at the moment. They've started the season 5-0.
Scotty (1:47)
Beautiful stuff. We've got lots going on in the world of rugby league, but I do want to focus first and foremost on the NPC final. I note very little change in the opening markets there. Can it be $1.25 Northland $3.70? You're expecting that to pretty much stay the same throughout the week, Paul?
Paul Maoate (2:06)
I would expect us to get, take a wee bit of money on Northland. Hanging, the bookies hanging them out there at $3.70, plus nine and a half at the line as well. Well, I don't need to tell you, Scotty, that they went down there and grabbed the shield earlier this season. So they will, the stadium down there holds no fears for the Taniwha.
Scotty (2:26)
All right, mates.
Paul Maoate (2:27)
And this is a one-off game, and one-off games, winner takes all.
Funny results can happen. Now, Canterbury, they're proven at this time of the year. It's, in fact, if we don't see them in the final or the semifinals, then it just seems like a funny old season. But Northland are there. Honestly, the $3.70 does look like a wee bit of value for mine, and if it's still there, in a couple of days' time, I will certainly have a little stab on Northland to upset Canterbury in that MPC final.
Scotty (2:59)
$3.70 in a two-horse race, not bad at all. The Australian women are paying $1.10 tonight against the White Ferns in the second T20 international at North Sydney Oval, poorly. But New Zealand, outside is two in the men's. India coming up in three days' time, the opening T20 of the season. So, New Zealand's underdogs in both so far on the book, mate.
Paul Maoate (3:20)
Yeah, and the New Zealand women, they weren't that far away in that first T20 either. The Australian women won by, what was it, two wickets, I think, two or three wickets. So, if they can just tighten up slightly, they're not that far away from this very, very good Australian team. Of course, yes, you mentioned the big one over here.
$2.50? I don't know. You know, it's a long trip from India to New Zealand.
Will they be jaded slightly? I know they've been here for a little bit. Having a little bit of a top run score of markets. Let me tell you, in the Blackcaps, Finnellen, very, very popular with punters at $4.60. Tim Seifert, also attracting a wee bit of attention at $4.40. And if you like someone a little bit further down, Daryl Mitchell, who always seems to pop up, certainly when we need him most, he seems to be there or thereabouts. He's paying $6.50 to be the New Zealand top run scorer in that first T20. But as you said, the Blackcaps are $2.50. Outsiders against India, who are $1.50.
