And we're rolling, cheers.
Cheers. That's only part of a cat lady. I mean, obviously.
Joe Rogan (0:08)
Yeah, that's just the one, well, it's the critical part.
John Dudley (0:11)
It is, it is.
Joe Rogan (0:12)
Without the red wine, the cat lady is not that ridiculous, right? It's just red wine, it's like tequila and red bull.
John Dudley (0:19)
Yep.
Joe Rogan (0:19)
That's normal. I mean, that's like red bull and vodka. It's not too crazy.
You pour the red wine in there, you're like, what are you doing?
John Dudley (0:25)
Now you're just desperate, now you're just like everyone shows up to a party with what they found in their parents' refrigerator. And then the cat lady appears.
Joe Rogan (0:35)
Have you ever made one of those since then?
John Dudley (0:37)
Yeah, a lot. I've turned people onto it all the time.
Joe Rogan (0:43)
That day was so ridiculous.
John Dudley (0:45)
I've gone into bars where people recognize me, and then the waitress comes over and says, the bartender would like to give you this cat lady, and I'm like, what?
Joe Rogan (0:57)
People who don't know what we're talking about, the cat lady was a drink that John invented two years ago in Lanai. Two years ago?
John Dudley (1:05)
Yeah, I think it was two years ago.
Joe Rogan (1:06)
Not last year, the year before that.
John Dudley (1:07)
Two years ago.
Joe Rogan (1:08)
And it was Shane Dorian, Sam Soholt, Ben O'Brien, John.
John Dudley (1:15)
Remy had left.
Joe Rogan (1:17)
Yeah, Remy had left.
John Dudley (1:18)
He didn't get to enjoy it. That was the first.
Joe Rogan (1:20)
We did a podcast in my suite, and we just went into the mini bar, and we just grabbed everything.
John Dudley (1:26)
I don't know about this wee stuff. You came with a full bear hug of just, I could hear clinging happening, and you just dropped it in the middle of the table.
Joe Rogan (1:35)
Like, this is what we got.
John Dudley (1:36)
Yeah, you're like, hey, let's podcast. And that's where it all started. By the end, I just was kind of grabbing.
I think I was consuming more than most, so I was just reaching around trying to take whatever was left. And then you're like, what the hell are you pouring?
Joe Rogan (1:51)
So that was our first year doing this trip. And this year is our third.
And man, it is it is an first of all, it's an awesome place to get ready for like elk.
John Dudley (2:05)
I think to get ready for anything. Yeah, anything.
If you can successfully, especially if someone's wong and know, like where they rate. I remember last year when I elk hunted with Andy, I told Andy when we were in Montana, that this time I'm going to be limited on how much I can hunt with you, like we'll both go opposite directions. And then after, I think, two days, Andy said, OK, I realize now how much of my success before was hinging on you navigating me in these, like, small moments that I didn't really realize how important they were. And I think if you can come here and if you can do you, like if your guide can get you close, but then you just say, I'm going to test only myself from here in, like from the 250-yard line, from the 250-yard mark in, if you can get it done on an axis here, you can get anything done.
Joe Rogan (3:04)
Yeah, that's black belt bow hunting skills. Yeah, I think that's black belt skills, especially if you're taking a large long shot and you manage to crawl into place because a lot of it is crawling. If you plan on coming out here, folks, bring some knee pads. Luckily, our Sitka gear pants have built in knee pads, which are excellent.
But if you use a different kind of camo, first of all, you shouldn't. Second of all, if you do use a different kind of camo, you better get some knee pads.
John Dudley (3:33)
Just the pattern itself looked amazing.
Joe Rogan (3:35)
Amazing.
John Dudley (3:35)
Like when we were glassing across, when I would glass and look at you or when I'd look back, you blend it. I mean, it worked really well.
Joe Rogan (3:44)
It worked great everywhere.
John Dudley (3:45)
The subalpine is the bomb.
Joe Rogan (3:47)
It's the bomb. I've used a lot of different camo, trying different stuff out.
And, you know, I really love First Light. They make good stuff.
But Sitka is the best. They're the best. They just take everything above and beyond. Everything is one step better.
