Hello everybody. Welcome to another episode of the Locked On Blue Devils podcast. My name is JJ Jackson. So great to have you here with us today on this Friday, July 24th, 2026 Locked On Blue Devils is your one stop shop where we discuss everything going on inside the life of Duke Athletics. And on today's show, Jeff Fedotin from Forbes back with me back to back days, excited to talk about the news that we heard earlier today with Duke basketball set to take on Texas Tech in Madison Square Garden in December for this upcoming season. We had heard rumors about the Michigan game possibly being off the schedule for Duke amidst a broadcast disagreement within the rights to the game. So we'll break all that down and so much more as we get set to continue here on this episode of Locked On Blue Devils. A lot of good stuff to get into on the program today. And who better to break it all down with than my very good friend, Jeff Fedotin of Forbes, who's kind enough to join us here on the show. Again, a lot of excitement with this game and now a new opponent on the schedule here for Duke, as it's going to be Texas Tech, who the Blue Devils saw this past season. Great to see you, Jeff. Hope you're doing well today.

Doing great.

**Jeff Fedotin** (2:20)
Going back to back, just like the Blue Devils in 91-92 with our back to back spots here, JJ.

**JJ Jackson** (2:27)
Yeah, I love the shout out to those great teams that the Blue Devils had. Coach K's first two title teams and back to back days that you and I are getting to talk about the latest with Duke basketball. All right, we were super excited about the possibility of this Michigan game being played. Just four days shy of the Christmas holiday there in MSG. Then we were talking potentially about a game going to Lone Depot Park, the baseball stadium for the Miami Marlins. Now, all of a sudden, it's like, nope, it's not going to happen.
Here is reports from everybody, a good profile from Jeff Borzello of ESPN saying that now it looks like there will be Texas Tech set to run it back against Duke in December.

**Jeff Fedotin** (3:12)
Yeah, I thought this might be in peril when Dusty May moved on to the Mavericks. He was a big part of it. The pivot to the Marlins Park was because that May had some connections from when he was at Florida Atlantic, when he was the head coach there. That's why I pivoted. So I'm like, I'm wondering if there's no longer so. Duke pivoted again and still an exciting matchup. It's still going to be on Prime Video. Duke will still reap benefits of that NIL money.
It's still a marquee opponent, Texas Tech, and it's still going to be a cool place to play at Madison Square Garden.

**JJ Jackson** (3:49)
Yeah, obviously this became kind of a big 10 issue with Michigan competing out of that conference, right? And where the game was going to be owed to be played. And Duke of course had this first of its kind exclusive Prime Video deal set in place, where we're already going to see Duke take on UConn and then Michigan in December. And then you had the Gonzaga game in February. Now, if Michigan's not good to go for that December game, Duke ultimately says, you know what? We're going to keep our deal going with Prime Video. We'll find a new opponent. And it's good that Texas Tech kind of still had an opening. There are several teams, Duke being one of them that haven't exactly figured out all of the missing pieces within the schedule themselves. And Texas Tech, a very high quality opponent that Duke's been able to get on their schedule now.
