If we haven't got to meet, let me get back to the things I'm supposed to say. My name is Kevin, and I am honored to lead here alongside with my wife who you met a few moments ago. And we are glad that you have joined us this morning. Thanks for being present. Thanks for being in the room. Thanks for joining us online. And we're just going to talk about being thankful that the Chiefs are going to win tonight against the Colts.

There's only one person in the room that was like...

I don't like what he said. Sorry, it'd be like that sometimes.

Man, I cannot refrain sometimes. Like, let me... Here, I'm just... From now on, I'm just going to come out and read. Like, I'm just going to read what's on my notes, and we'll just stay there. I do want to invite you to my group that's on Monday mornings. We are praying in the auditorium every Monday from 6 to 7 a.m. So if you're up early, if you're close, we would love to have you here as we continue to pray. Something that we were doing during 21 days of prayer and fasting, and we just thought we would continue it every Monday. So Monday morning prayer happens in the auditorium. Be present if you can. We'd love to have you here. And I feel like there was one other thing, but I didn't write it down. So what singers run into your mind when you think, like, whose voice do you just love to hear? I don't even want to answer it out loud, just think about it. Think about who is that? That like, when they start singing, like they can instantly change your mood. Whether it's just how smooth their voice is, or the raspiness, or the range and roller coaster they take you on, like just whatever it is that seems to just captivate you. And then when that song comes on, like you know the song, like when they sing that song, like you just close your eyes, you get lost, lost for a moment or two just in their voice, in the song, whether it's nostalgic and takes you back to memories, or whether it just kind of blocks out everything else that's around you. There's something about voices. Now, maybe you're like, music isn't that important, there's not a singer or anything that does that for you. But maybe it's the voice of someone close to you. Maybe it's the voice of your spouse or your parent or your kids, that when you hear their voice, it brings a smile to your face. That word of encouragement, that phone call out of the blue, the joke at the right time, like those kind of things that almost breathe life into us. And when we don't get that voice, when that voice is absent or silent, like man, that drives us nuts. We want them to call. We want to hear their voice. And if it's not, man, we just want to hear more. One more time, one more conversation.

It's their voice.

I wonder if you've ever wished that you could hear God's voice.

Sometimes when we're going through life, like Lindsey was talking about earlier, like when all these different things are happening, we're wondering what the right thing to do is, or we want to make the right decision, and we're debating back and forth, or we're struggling to make it through the week or the month, struggling with our thoughts, struggling to win against sin. And as we're doing all of those things, oftentimes we're asking God to speak to us. We want to hear his voice. We want to hear what he has to say. We want to know what he knows, especially if we're thinking about what's headed down the road. We want to know everything, about everything.

So as we look into God's word this morning, as we spend time in 1 Samuel, what we will discover is that we want to hear God's voice. We can take comfort or encouragement in knowing that God is still speaking. Let's pray together. Jesus, we thank you for today. We thank you for the time we get to spend together in your house and in your presence, that you are so good. So Lord, as we look into your word this morning, would it speak right to where we are? Not just the words off the page, but Lord, could we hear from you today? Lord, we so desperately want to hear from you, help our hearts to be ready to hear what you have to say, and to respond to what you would say to us today. How would you help us? Help us to draw close to you, to be near to you, so that we can hear you. Lord, I pray that you would anoint me to communicate your word to your people. Help me to do it clearly and confidently in a way that we hear your voice more than my own. In Jesus' name, let everybody say amen. Amen. All right, now, as I get into the message today, don't let me preach this by myself.
