New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash after urging residents to set their air conditioners to 78 degrees as a major heat wave approaches. Mamdani says the voluntary measure will help reduce strain on the city's power grid and keep electricity flowing during extreme temperatures.

Do you have to make sure you don't turn the AC below 78 degrees? Because it's not proper to do so. And the person that said this was the face of socialism today, Mamdani, Mayor Mamdani from New York. If you guys want to pull up that story on page eight, I don't know if you guys got a video of one of his tweets, he comes out, Mamdani gets roasted after telling, sweltering New Yorkers to set AC to 78 degree, and everybody calls him a commie.
You're a commie, you're a commie, you're a commie for doing this, if you guys got the tweet, if you want to pull it up.
So, there it is, New York, it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool. Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off the lights, electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can. Our city is doing its part to maintaining the 78 degree rule in our building, dimming, turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same and powering down non-essential equipment. A stable grid means the AC stays on and lives are saved. Let's ease demand and get through the heat together. That's almost a chat GBT type of a tweet right there with those two lines that you see on the bottom. So, gets 58 million views, not for a good thing. Even CNN, there's a clip Vinny, if I'm not mistaken, right? CNN reacts to this. If you guys got that with the Abby one, I think it's a group that was sent.
But before you guys find it, I'll come to you first Vinny. So what do you think about this too? Why do you think the audience reacted the way that they did?

**Vinny** (1:25)
Pat, nobody wants anybody telling them how to live their lives. People are out there busting their butts, they're paying their bills, they're doing everything.
Who's going to listen to this? I don't care, Republican, Democrat, Communist, you know, independent, Republican, whatever the hell, nobody wants them to tell them, by the way, I'm from New York. Do you guys have any idea what 78 degrees is in your apartment? Have you ever felt that before? Like over here, Tom, I'm lucky because remember you told me about where the sun comes up and where the sun sets? My apartment is good because I'm covered by trees and I'm not affected by the sun. That's why I'm pretty sure at the beginning when I said my apartment's 74 degrees, people were like, wait, what are you talking about? It's so cool in my apartment. But people don't want anybody. And again, these are the people that are free and love and life. And now they're already starting to do that, you know, do this, do that. We're asking you this. And imagine once they're in power, Tommy, where it's like they're not going to request, they're going to say, hey, listen, we're going to put something on your thermostat that's not going to let you go above this type of temperature. That's where it's heading.

**SPEAKER_1** (2:23)
By the way, if you look at a lot of other countries, which we'll get to here in a minute, I want Dear Abby, if you can play this clip here from CNN, go for it.

**SPEAKER_3** (2:33)
Ben, I don't understand this.

**Vinny** (2:35)
Do you support it? Ask Nikki Haley.

**SPEAKER_4** (2:38)
No, I'm asking you, do you think like, when you saw that, you're like, hell yeah, let me walk over there and knock that number up to 78

**SPEAKER_3** (2:43)
Let me ask you a question. Is Nikki the Republic of South Carolina?

**Vinny** (2:49)
I'm from the States.

**SPEAKER_5** (2:52)
It's 78 there a lot. It's 78 there a lot.

**SPEAKER_4** (2:56)
Ben, do you support it?

**SPEAKER_3** (2:57)
Ben, don't you live in Texas?

**SPEAKER_5** (2:58)
I live in Texas, and there's no way, and now we're putting it on 78 degrees.

**SPEAKER_4** (3:03)
Just to be clear, it's not 78 degrees in here right now either.

**SPEAKER_5** (3:07)
No one's going to abide by this.

**SPEAKER_4** (3:09)
It's absurd.

**SPEAKER_3** (3:10)
But Ben, I'm just saying, this is a weird hill to die on. When Nikki Haley says, hold on, when Nikki Haley says, we ask that you set your thermostat to 68 or lower.

**Vinny** (3:22)
68 or 78?

**SPEAKER_3** (3:23)
In the winter. This is for the winter energy conservation.

**Vinny** (3:26)
Who's talking about Nikki Haley?

**SPEAKER_5** (3:28)
They've got to pull up something from 11 years ago.

**SPEAKER_3** (3:32)
They've got to set their thermostat to 68 And also, this doesn't come from the politicians. This is also coming from, as I pointed out, the Department of Energy. It's coming from the power company, Con Edison.
