TopicsComedy

Rich Berra (0:30)

You might say National Salmon Day.

SPEAKER_2 (0:32)

Salmon Day.

Rich Berra (0:32)

I've heard that too, it's delicious and good for you. It is National Cowboy Boot Day. I do not own a pair, do you own a pair?

Johnjay Van Es (0:39)

I used to, I don't know if I do anymore.

Rich Berra (0:41)

And you're gonna like this Johnjay, because I know you really love this documentary. In fact, you talked about it for several months. It is World Octopus Day.

Celebrate the octopus, why don't you?

Johnjay Van Es (0:50)

Yeah, my octopus teacher on Netflix, incredible, incredible documentary.

Yesterday on the show, we did something, I gave somebody Rich's phone number, but I was one digit off because my fingers typed it wrong. And we called this guy. And then we came up with the phrase, what do you call it? Phone number neighbor?

Rich Berra (1:07)

Your phone number neighbor.

Johnjay Van Es (1:08)

Now the guy never picked up, whatever, but I thought that'd be so much fun to all of us to call our phone number neighbor. So you take the last digit and change it and let them know, like, you know, we call them.

Payton Whitmore (1:19)

It's a surprise. I kind of love this though, because I don't know what my family did when everyone started to get phones and phone numbers, but literally almost every single person in my family is phone number neighbors. So my mom and my dad have the same last four digits just off by one number. Same with my grandma, same with my uncle, same with everyone.

Johnjay Van Es (1:41)

That's cool.

Rich Berra (1:42)

Same for the master plan.

Payton Whitmore (1:43)

Like us younger cousins, it's just the first six digits are the same, the last four are different.

Johnjay Van Es (1:48)

So when we call your phone number neighbor, do you already know who it is?

Payton Whitmore (1:51)

I don't know who it is because ours are different for the last four. But like if you were to call my grandma and then do her phone number neighbor, either one up or one down, you would get one of her brothers.

Johnjay Van Es (2:01)

I got Kyle here. So we're going to call Kyle's phone number neighbor, okay? So that you talk to them, you could be like, Hey, I'm on the radio. And what if they're like, shut up?

SPEAKER_6 (2:08)

What if they're like, oh my God, no way, what's up? Phone number neighbor.

Kyle Unfug (2:11)

What if they come back as friends?

Johnjay Van Es (2:14)

Nine, one. Okay, it's your phone number neighbor.

SPEAKER_7 (2:24)

Hi, if you record your name and reason for calling, I'll see if this person is available.

Johnjay Van Es (2:29)

You got to tell them.

Kyle Unfug (2:30)

Hey, it's Kyle. I'm your phone number neighbor.

Rich Berra (2:37)

Welcome to the neighborhood.

SPEAKER_2 (2:38)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_8 (2:39)

Kyle, please stay on the line.

Rich Berra (2:41)

Okay.

SPEAKER_2 (2:42)

Who is it?

Kyle Unfug (2:44)

I don't know. I'm actually kind of scared.

Johnjay Van Es (2:48)

I feel like Kyle.

Kyle Unfug (2:49)

Don't hang up on me, phone number neighbor.

Rich Berra (2:50)

They're looking at their phone reading there. Come on, phone number neighbor.

Johnjay Van Es (2:54)

I don't know.

SPEAKER_2 (2:55)

Hello. Hello. Yes.

Kyle Unfug (2:58)

This is going to sound interesting, but who is this?

SPEAKER_8 (3:02)

Why? You're the one who called.

Kyle Unfug (3:04)

Yes, because I am your phone number neighbor.

Johnjay Van Es (3:07)

We do a radio show. Yeah. And we called somebody by mistake the other day, one digit off. And we thought, wow, that's a phone number neighbor. So everybody on the show is calling one digit off. So Kyle, on the show, the show is called Johnjay & Rich. You are one digit off from her phone number. So you are her phone number neighbor.

SPEAKER_13 (3:25)

Okay.

SPEAKER_7 (3:26)

Ah, right now I'm in the meeting.

SPEAKER_13 (3:27)

Sorry.

Johnjay Van Es (3:28)

Howdy now.

SPEAKER_2 (3:28)

All right. Okay. Well, have a good day.

Kyle Unfug (3:30)

Nice to meet you.

Johnjay Van Es (3:31)

Howdy. What's your name though? Howdy, neighbor. Ronnie. All right, Ronnie, have a great day.

SPEAKER_2 (3:36)

Have a great day. Thank you. Bye bye.

SPEAKER_14 (3:37)

I have a nice phone number name.

SPEAKER_2 (3:39)

Nice neighbor you have. You know what?

SPEAKER_8 (3:41)

You got that jerk real neighbor.

SPEAKER_15 (3:44)

You got a real nice phone number neighbor.

Rich Berra (3:47)

He was even in a meeting and picked up right on Ronnie.
