Welcome to Legends of Avantris, I'm Pike, and you're listening to Stardust Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_3 (0:23)
We open in deep space, dark yet filled with brilliance. The beautiful pink, blue, purple and silver, interrupted by the ever present twinkling of always distant stars. The Rhapsody cuts through, cruising towards its next destination. An enormous purple ship seems to sometimes stretch so far, almost as if it is reaching into the past. With a long bow, bow, large twin engines and a giant stabilizing circlet that spins at its rear. To the casual onlooker, it may appear like any other ship, but look closer and you'll see the scars. And in an instant, know that it has stories to tell.
Out here, it's easy to feel lost and alone, but not for our heroes, and of course, use the term loosely.
Through a window on the ship, you can see a hungry Pike. Chuckles leans in, serving a pie. It explodes. Pike tackles Chuckles, who pops into shattered strands of balloon. Dandy and Kavir laugh while Rett grounds.
They each have their own reasons for taking to the stars. But once their path was set, an unshakable truth revealed itself. That whatever they sought, whatever questions they pondered, they could find their answers in the stars. They simply had to ask.
It's early morning here on the Rhapsody. You awaken to a day just like any other. Some of you may be in bed. Some of you may be elsewhere. It's at this moment, I'd like to take a second, to have everyone go around and explain what they may be doing as they're getting started for the day. And if you would describe your character. Pike, we'll start with you.
Pike (2:31)
Certainly, so Pike would definitely be up early most mornings in his room, basking in whatever radiant energy might be coming in through the window of his room, if we're circling some star or some sun. Being a solar elf, he would absolutely have some sort of resonance with radiation, you know, cosmic radiation.
SPEAKER_3 (2:58)
And you would gain it, you'd have a porthole in your window, a star peering in, the light hitting across your face, and you would feel invigorated by it.
Pike (3:06)
While basking in this radiance, wherever we may be throughout the solar systems, he would be practicing what appears to be some sort of Tai Chi, almost in a meditative state, working up a sweat and staying fit, and thinking about praying that Ret will have found us a job so that maybe we can afford food this week. There will be, the room will be kind of minimalistic.
SPEAKER_4 (3:31)
There's not much in there.
Pike (3:33)
Doesn't really say much about who Pike is as a person. There are random personal effects here and there, a small music box on the nightstand. And he would basically just be practicing this Tai Chi until Ret calls for him, almost invariably, or he becomes so hungry he goes to look for breakfast.
Thank you. K'Veer.
Kavir (3:55)
So K'Veer, like Pike, will be up early.
Not so much as he likes to meditate and prepare for the day, but he likes to be the first one in sort of the commissary area, right? Viewing, getting an eye on everybody, seeing how they start their day, what they like to eat, where they're going, you know, that sort of stuff. But before he goes, his room is relatively bare, except for his clothing for the day and an hourglass that he wears by his hip. So he'll sort of equip himself for the day and he spends a moment in the mirror doing his hair, you know, because he is somewhat vain. I'm assuming that's how you do hair.
But he takes a moment in the mirror every day and he looks at the tattoo on his chest, or the runes on his chest, I should say. It's the image of a clock, but not a clock that anybody can read. And he sort of just watches the seconds tick by, or the equivalent of what would be seconds tick by, as it moves, before he finally heads into the commissary.
SPEAKER_8 (4:58)
Thank you. Labouche.
I wouldn't be the first to rise.
I'm not sure I would be the last either. I would be somewhere in the middle. And Labouche, if you were to look into his room before he awakens, all you would see is what looks like a deflated suit, an empty pair of boots, the actual body suit itself, just right on the mattress of the bed, and headless. And then on the floor, upside down, you would see this large bulb, a giant helmet with a globe of sorts, transparent glass, or whatever the space equivalent of that would be. And inside would look like, oh yeah, yeah, space glass.
