Kelsey Lewin (0:00)

Hello, everybody.

Ben Hanson (0:01)

Cold open for this episode of The MinnMax Show. So you know that something is up.

We are going to get to a good, fun episode of The MinnMax Show. After this initial segment, you can check out timestamps for all the stuff we're going to be talking about in a little bit. But wanted to open the show with a group of us here, just to talk about the elephant in the room. You might have heard about it, you might not have. But Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be involved in any future content here at MinnMax. There's a link in the description. If you'd like to see his blue skypost for more context on everything happening here.

Needless to say, we're obviously not the biggest victims in this situation. But it is a huge gut punch for all of us. And it is, yes, you're right, it is an unbelievably up situation for a lot of people. And the pain is definitely out there in the community in a huge way, a huge way. And I appreciate everybody for understanding when we say that we need a little space to process. We're going to be processing all this for a long time. Really appreciate all the messages and everybody saying to take as much time as you need.

It is that feeling of like, oh, would you like to process your pain at the center of a loud stadium, online? Absolutely not. Everybody needs some time to focus on just the sadness and rage for this situation. And I'm very thankful that we have each other for group calls and kind of talking through the situation. I don't know about everybody else, but that was really a night and day feeling of when I got on the call the next morning just to see how everybody was doing and kind of walk through.

Haley MacLean (1:48)

I wanted to just rush to that call, to be honest. Yeah.

Ben Hanson (1:52)

Yeah, I was like, we can't be thinking about anything else right now. Nobody's having a normal evening until the meeting tomorrow. Right, right. And so we put out a call asking for some questions. Like, if anybody has questions about this, because we want to answer as much as we can without putting raw nerves on the internet, as I appreciate you all understanding. So a question that's come up a fair bit is, you know, asking, did you all know? Did you know about this when you brought Jacob on or back at Game Informer when he was an intern? And the answer is no, absolutely not. Not a hint of it. You know, we saw it bubbling up like everybody else. At that point, I reached out to Jacob and he confirmed it. And then we had a call and he confirmed it even further. And then we had a group call without Jacob and came to unanimous decision that we need to cut ties here and move on with MinnMax as an outlet.

Should we get some more direct questions here from the community? We have like Tezib SM there and saying, hey, thanks for being so transparent throughout this whole process. I'm curious if you plan on delisting or removing any videos with Jacob and them. No, we have no plans for that. Yeah, we're not changing anything from MinnMax's past. Obviously, it's a huge change for MinnMax's future. He's a big part of MinnMax's history. We can't take down every video that he was in, change thumbnails. It's just what's past is past. I totally understand if you want to avoid that content, if it's too painful, pops up on your YouTube feed. By all means, ignore it, but we're not going to be going through and changing all that and taking stuff down. But we understand other outlets that do. It's completely understandable, but it's too big of MinnMax's history here. Amelia, was there much content that was prepared in advance for Well Down Day to be redone as a result of Jacob no longer being a part of MinnMax? No. I'm curious if other people have big thoughts on that. Control Resonant were doing the deepest dive right now. He's not a part of that. Moving forward, that was probably the biggest change. On practical levels, it's like we usually do a best of every year. I don't think we'll be doing one this year.

Clips of MinnMax's past are rough. And so, no, I mean, two 10s is still going to happen. We have to tweak some neutral plus ideas we had in the camp, but really probably less than you think in terms of tweaking things from MinnMax's future here. AxelJRPG has a question saying, is MinnMax being nine people is something important to you, Ben? Will MinnMax be eight cohorts forever now?
