Win in the end.
**Craig Carton** (0:06)
All right.
I know who's gonna win in the end.
Stanley Kroenke and the Kroenke Sports family.
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. As they have added another team to their list of just professional sports tycoon. They own everything. So, the Kroenke family, Ted Kroenke, I mean Stanley Kroenke, I guess, has now purchased the Angels. Moreno finally sold them after years of the last year and a half of speculation, after being one of the worst owners in the sport, after having a team that had Mike Trout and Otani that couldn't make the playoffs. Mike Trout's entire career, three playoff games, he lost all three. One of the greatest players of his generation, three playoff games. They're the worst team in baseball again this year, although they did kick the crap out of the Yankees last night. But they are now sold.
Arte Moreno sold them, and it is now a part of the Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. They own the Nuggets. They own the Colorado Avalanche. They own the everyone's favorite NFL team, the Los Angeles Rams. They own Arsenal. Is that in the, is the English Premier League? Yeah, they won the Premier League. They won the Premier League, and he also owns, just for kicks, I'm sure, maybe he's got this one just for like a nephew or something, the Colorado Rapids of MLS. And now he owns the Anaheim Angels. All the toys. Of Los Angeles. All the toys. I think he also owns like a, they have like a sports station in Colorado. I'm sure he owns a lot of things. I think it's a win for baseball. Well. I think he'll spend. I'm sure he will. It is a win because the Angels have been terrible. Unlike Arte Moreno who said winning was not a top five concern of fans. That's an actual quote that he said. Not a top five concern of fans?
**Chris McMonigle** (2:00)
Yes.
**Craig Carton** (2:00)
Moms, specifically.
Well, that's good then. Because they don't get any of it in LA. And you know what? The funniest thing too, and Paul was talking about this last night on the broadcast.
There was not a team that gave the Joe Torey Aero Yankees more trouble than the Angels. Shone Figgins. Shone Figgins. I hate that dude. Hate him. But I mean, that entire team led by Mike Sosha was always a pain in the ass to the New York Yankees. Always. For years. Years. Lost 2-1-0-2, obviously. Lost 2-1-0-5.
Vladimir Guerrero goes there as opposed to what Brian Cashman wanted to do and bring him to the Yankees when George stepped in and made them get Gary Sheffield. That's right. Just remember that for all, you know, for all you George sick of fans who hate Brian Cashman. Cashman had a deal with Vladimir Guerrero. George said, nope, we're signing Gary Sheffield. Just so you know.
But that team, whether it was Darren Erstad or Garrett Anderson or... Tim Salmon. Tim Salmon for a while. Yep. Troy Percival. Just John Lackey. That whole freaking team, they were always a pain in the ass for the Yankees. And now... That rally monkey. That rally monkey, the whole bit. They were always a problem.
It was nice to beat them on the way to a championship in 09, but they have fallen off for a long time now. That was a team that knew how to play baseball. They were tough. They were a really good baseball team. They have been trash for so long. And they... Think about... They had Mike Trout and Shohei Otani.
They had two of the three best players over the last 20 years. And they couldn't win. They couldn't get to the postseason, let alone win in the postseason. It's insane.
**Chris McMonigle** (4:00)
And they had Albert Poulos.
**Craig Carton** (4:01)
Now, he wasn't great with them, but yeah. Early in Trout's career, he was still... They gave some terrible contracts. They gave, obviously, the third baseman from Washington, Rendon.
**Chris McMonigle** (4:13)
It's one of the worst...
**Craig Carton** (4:15)
I think it's Rendon. I think... Okay. He gave one of the worst contracts ever. I mean, he didn't want to play baseball after he signed it. Just got awful. His con... Hamilton. They gave Hamilton all kinds of money and his career fell apart after leaving Texas. Poo holes was still Poo holes for a time, but that was a long contract. Ton of money was a disaster. Like, they had no idea what they were doing.
And yeah, he'll come in and spend, and I'm sure that'll... they should improve. First thing you should do is tell Trout, you don't have a choice. Go try and win a championship or something. Stop sticking around here.
