On VSiN, the SportsBetting Network. Here are your hosts, Sean Green and Ryan Kramer.

Sean Green (0:09)

Welcome back, everyone. Sports Gambling Podcast live here on VSiN. Sean, stacking the money green with my partner in picks, Ryan. Real money Kramer. What's happening, Kramer?

Ryan Kramer (0:17)

Happy Saturday to the East Coast.

Sean Green (0:19)

Happy Saturday. Ringing in the new day. And of course, it's going to be, it's a Saturday on the East Coast, which means college football. Joining us on the Progressive Guest Line from the College Football Experience, Colby Dant, AK pick Dundee.

What's happening, Colby?

Colby Dant (0:37)

I ran out of champagne for this 2014 playoff news. So, you know, Oh yeah, let's talk about it.

Sean Green (0:44)

Let's start about that. I, you're, you're a college football purist. So I assume you hate the idea of changing things and making it a 2014 playoff, right?

Colby Dant (0:54)

No, I'm a college football purist.

So like the FCS D2, D3, NAIA, they do this awesome playoff that, you know, we've been waiting for for a long time in the FBS ranks. Now it's a little more honest on those levels because you have each conference representation, but, you know, it's still, this is a, this is a big, I think it's a great thing. I see everyone going AWOL on this, but normally what I've noticed is the people that are really going crazy at this are like your historical blue blood fans, like a Michigan fan and Alabama fan. And then I get it. I mean, you know, I guess I would be upset, too, that, you know, I guess the storm is coming in, I guess, in a way of parody, perhaps.

Ryan Kramer (1:36)

Well, it does, if you take a step back and you look at who is complaining, for the most part, like you said, there are some purists out there that have the whole time been saying, like, let's go back to the BCS and just have two teams play for the championship. But everyone else, it's all Big Ten and SEC people that are complaining. That's all this is.

Sean Green (1:55)

But they're going to have a bunch of teams in the playoff.

Ryan Kramer (1:58)

I think maybe that's the way they see it. Maybe not.

I think what it is doing, what it's going to highlight is how they're going to get more teams in, but it's not necessarily going to lead to championships. I mean, look at the SEC over the past couple of seasons. And so I don't get it. We wanted expansion. We get expansion. Now people are complaining too much expansion. I'm with Colby. I think this also opens the door for, maybe we don't have all the group of five. Let's have a second tournament. Let's be like college basketball. Why not?

Colby Dant (2:33)

And like what do you want to showcase? What makes college football so unique? Because we know pro sports get pro athletes at a certain time after they're in college.

So what to me makes college football so great is the stadiums, the traditions, the Iowa wave into the kids, stuff like that. Where you're going to be able to showcase that with on campus games, which to me, on campus games, that's something that doesn't even matter the sport. You could do college baseball, college basketball, college football. The pros cannot mimic that. They never can. And once you do that and showcase that at its highest level, I think success will follow that.

Ryan Kramer (3:14)

Yeah. The next thing we need is for the college football powers to be realized. They don't need bowl games. There's literally no reason to be in bed with the bowl games.

Colby Dant (3:23)

I don't know.

Sean Green (3:24)

Those are the people that are mad.

Ryan Kramer (3:25)

You want to, do you want to point at something and say fraud? Obviously something's going on there because the TV executives are even now starting to realize like, hey, you know what looks better? You know, a home game in Indiana versus a neutral site game in the fiesta bowl.

Sean Green (3:43)

They're, they're comfortable playoff games. We're going to watch and it's going to be entertaining.

Ryan Kramer (3:46)

But don't you also want to give an advantage to the team that's better. They get their home atmosphere. They get, you know, you get the cold versus the warm weather. You get the dome team playing outside. You get all the good stuff.

Sean Green (3:57)

Love it. Yeah. All four more college football playoff games, potentially a college football playoff game down the line, Notre Dame heads, the BYU or BYU is a 10 and a half point home dog here at the Circa Colby. What do you like?
