Do you remember when numbers were real?

Pepperidge Farm members when numbers were real? In the great before times of five or 10 years ago, when numbers were like an actual thing that you were supposed to respect. But apparently, in the post-AI apocalyptic world, numbers no longer are real.

So, yeah, I can't make this crap up. To be clear, Eli the Computer Guy is not creative enough to be more insane than the modern world already is. It is 2026, and the people that I respect most on planet Earth are the onion writers. Because can you imagine trying to write parody news stories when the actual reality is already so bat crap crazy? So this is the latest thing from the insane world of artificial intelligence. And one of the things I've been talking about for a while of that these numbers are no longer even vaguely tethered to reality, right? So again, one of the things you have to think about in the technology world is that founders and co-founders and CEOs, they are either generally optimistic, so they always believe that the best outcome is the one that is most likely to happen, or they are liars, but they're liars who know they have to couch their lies within the sheen of reality. That's how it's been for decades and decades and decades. You'll look at a startup company, they will give you the revenue forecast, and what you have to do is you have to sit back a little bit, look at those forecasts and say, yeah, but how realistic are those forecasts? The problem is we now get into 2026, and basically the CEOs, the founders, the rest of them in the AI world, they've just given up on being realistic. They're just throwing out bigger numbers. Oh, why are you giving us this huge number? Because this huge number is bigger than the other guy's number. And you're like, yeah, but what does that have to do with customers and client acquisition and cost to produce goods and all of that kind of, oh, nothing, right? I've talked about this before, where Anthropic now is arguing that for AI, there's a $30 trillion total addressable market. And the question I should come up is, where did they get $30 trillion from? And from what I can tell, they got $30 trillion from the fact that Elon Musk said that the total addressable market was $28.5 trillion. Again, think about this. Think about how absurd it is to come out and say the AI market has a $28.5 trillion total addressable market, right? That is just bat crap crazy. But what you got to understand with all these AI CEOs and founders is even when somebody else says something bat crap crazy, they can't just agree with that. They can't just be like, you know what? Yeah, that bat shit crazy number. Yeah, sure, we'll go along with that. No, no, it's always got to be higher. So Anthropic comes out with $30 trillion because, hey, if we're all throwing around bat crap crazy numbers, you're not going to agree with the other guy now, are you? And so that's basically like what's going on. Again, with all this stuff, the valuations, right? Anthropic, they're trying to say Anthropic is now worth $2 trillion.

On top of SpaceX being worth $2 trillion, on top of OpenAI, I don't know, it being worth a couple of dimes and a stick of chewing gum that's in your pocket. Right, anyways, just the valuations, or just all the numbers are bat crap crazy. So I talked about this before with Elon Musk. There were Elon Musk, I do believe it was a month ago. I get so lost with this, as I've said many times before, these numbers are so crazy, I have a hard time even saying the numbers because they just sounded so absurd to say. It's like, I have got to be incorrect. That number cannot be correct because it is so crazy. And then you go and do your research, and then you realize, oh no, the number that you were about to give is lower than what they were saying. But I do believe, I do believe with Elon Musk. I did a video, it was like a month, month and a half ago, where he was talking about $1 trillion in revenue for SpaceX in 2030 It was even a month ago, it might have been a couple of weeks ago. Anyways, one of the things I was talking about with this whole thing of $1 trillion in revenue by 2030, is that for as a GenXer, I'm a GenXer, I am spitting, spitting distant, tripping. Actually, I'm tripping distance of being 50 right at this point in time. And so anyways, I came up in the 1980s. So being in the 1980s, for me, kind of like my perspective to any year is from the 1980s, right? So when you say, when Elon Musk comes out and says that SpaceX will have a trillion dollars in revenue by 2030, I sit back and go, well, you know, I mean, I'm not sure I believe it, but I guess they've got 50 years to get there. Right, think about it. Like you're like, it's 2030 Like I don't think they're gonna get to a trillion dollars in revenue in 50 years, but who am I to say what is going to go on?
