Ron Arenas (0:46)
Hey, good morning, everyone. Welcome to Southwest Flavor. I'm your host Ron Arenas. We have our co-host, Javier Avalos. Good morning, sir.
Javier Avalos (0:55)
Good morning, Ron. How are you today?
Ron Arenas (0:56)
I'm doing good. We're in Studio B for the first time for Southwest Flavor.
Javier Avalos (1:00)
Right. Yeah.
Ron Arenas (1:02)
So that's pretty cool.
Javier Avalos (1:03)
No, it is. Thanks for hosting me.
Ron Arenas (1:05)
Yeah.
Javier Avalos (1:06)
Amazing.
Ron Arenas (1:06)
Thank you for coming in.
Javier Avalos (1:09)
Would have missed it.
Ron Arenas (1:11)
And it's very convenient for you because you're a block away from your business.
Javier Avalos (1:15)
Yeah, there was a lot of traffic this morning. Go figure. Right. Typical Tucsonians, you know, packing up and slip sliding in traffic. And I pulled in this person that just ran the red light. It was like, OK, the colors red.
Yeah, I'm going to drive through it. Everybody was just honking at them.
SPEAKER_4 (1:36)
So there you go.
Ron Arenas (1:38)
Yeah, it is. It's a scary thing. I mean, when you get up to a green light, like if you're the first person in the green light.
SPEAKER_4 (1:43)
Yes.
Ron Arenas (1:44)
You always have to look both ways.
Javier Avalos (1:45)
Oh, God, you know, every time. That or if you're making a left hand turn.
And I tell people, you know, just wait until the guy cut passes because you don't know if he's paying attention. And if you even though you have the green light to make a laugh, that's right, you make and the guy drives through it, they're going to hold you 50 percent at fault, depending on which carrier is picking up on it.
Ron Arenas (2:10)
And you have to deal with insurance carriers every day in your business.
SPEAKER_6 (2:14)
Every single day, absolutely.
Ron Arenas (2:15)
Tell us a little bit about your business.
Javier Avalos (2:17)
Well, Ron, we just won 2026 Arizona Reader's Choice. Thank you, Marana. Thank you, Rural Valley. Yeah, congratulations. Tucson. I appreciate that this year. It was really it was a great event and people really responded to our plea and it was a great surprise. So thirty four years in business. That's fantastic. Yeah. I've been in the business for about forty four years now. So thirty three here in Tucson. And it's been great. Yeah. A single family operator. You know, we believe our core values is our local community. Right. Marana, Oral Valley, Saddlebrook, people that are looking for that good old family business. They're the ones that keep keep us in business. We support local. Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, you'd be surprised. Although the big carriers, insurance carriers, they push, they steer the consumer to the big boxes. There's a lot of one that don't want that. They really, you know, we want to go with someone that I'm going to have breakfast with and keep. Oh, yeah. The people. Yeah. Yeah.
The economy and their money locally. And they do that. So kudos to all those supporters that keep our doors open.
SPEAKER_4 (3:47)
Yeah.
Javier Avalos (3:47)
Yeah.
Ron Arenas (3:48)
Very good. Thirty four years. Wow.
SPEAKER_4 (3:49)
Four years. Yeah.
Ron Arenas (3:52)
It's unfortunately for us, but fortunately for you.
SPEAKER_4 (3:55)
Yeah.
Ron Arenas (3:56)
We've done business with you several times.
SPEAKER_7 (3:57)
And yeah, just a couple of times in the last ten years.
SPEAKER_4 (4:00)
Yeah, exactly.
Javier Avalos (4:01)
We keep your loyalty card punched in all the time.
Ron Arenas (4:05)
So that's a good thing. So but yeah, you've always taken care of us. You've always gone our trucks back on the road and looking good. Appreciate it.
SPEAKER_1 (4:13)
Yeah, appreciate it.
Javier Avalos (4:15)
Yeah.
Ron Arenas (4:15)
So hopefully our and some couple of them have been our fault and a couple of them have not been our fault. Right. I mean, stuff happens out there.
Javier Avalos (4:23)
The ones that become your, you know, the technicians, you know, that's why people say, yeah, well, why do I have insurance? Because you have insurance because it pays for stupidity. The mistakes that we make and our employees, sometimes things happen and then you kind of outweigh, what's the best way to go or do I go and put it through my insurance carrier or do I pay for out of the company's funds? So we emphasize, you know, let us look at it first. You know, let us give you that option.
