Yeah. Well, thank you. I'm glad you're here also.
And our first guest is Doug Everett. Doug, you're working, or you're working. You're the candidate, the Republican candidate for LD 18, for the Arizona State Senate.

**Doug Everett** (0:32)
Yes, indeed. I'm running as the approachable candidate.

All right. Well, tell us a little bit about yourself.

**Doug Everett** (1:00)
Okay. Well, I'm here first. Well, I'm here with my campaign manager, Len Rosenblum.
He ran in 2024 for the LD 18 State House, and I was his campaign manager. Okay. Now, he's mine and he heads my organization.

**Ron Arenas** (1:20)
Oh, fantastic.

**Doug Everett** (1:21)
Very good. So, I'm a retired engineer with 37 years in aerospace industry.

**Ron Arenas** (1:28)
Oh, wow. Okay.

**Doug Everett** (1:29)
Retired in 2024
I have lifelong community involvement starting in high school, continuing work as an engineer. And I'm beginning, so beginning with Boy Scouts. I was an Eagle Scout and then later an adult leader. And I trained a troop of Boy Scouts to bicycle the L-2 or the Tucson.

**Ron Arenas** (1:55)
Ah, very cool. We were talking about that a little bit yesterday about cycling. Yeah.

**Doug Everett** (1:58)
They did the 68-mile route.

**Ron Arenas** (2:01)
Okay. All right.

**Doug Everett** (2:02)
And in the past, I've also been a licensed motorman for Antique Street Cars, a math, I've been, this is, you know, life, a lifetime of community involvement, you know, right, a math tutor and chess club coach.

**Ron Arenas** (2:19)
Oh, okay.

**Doug Everett** (2:20)
And deputy grand night at my church.
And then recently, I was campaign, I've been twice a campaign manager in the past. And I'm a lead precinct committeeman of covering about 10 precincts.

**Ron Arenas** (2:38)
Okay. All right.
And LD-18, that's a pretty big district, isn't it?

**Doug Everett** (2:44)
Geographically, it's small compared to some of the other districts. LD-17 wraps all the way around us.
Well, not 100 percent, but we're surrounded mostly by LD-17, but also we border 16, 20, and 21

**Ron Arenas** (3:04)
Okay.

**Doug Everett** (3:05)
And it's relatively compact because those ones cover rural areas.
We cover the Catalina foothills north, south to Tucson. I'm sorry, south to Tucson to Broadway Boulevard. That's the southern boundary.

**Ron Arenas** (3:23)
Okay.

**Doug Everett** (3:23)
And then east over to Pantano or Sabino Wash or El Camino Seco. And then in the west, if you're south of the river, we go to Country Club. And if you're north of the river, we go all the way to I-10.
We go all the way north, and we go all the way to the extreme to Lambert Lane, which is a major street south of Tangerine. Tangerine's not much further north.

**Ron Arenas** (3:52)
Yeah.

**Doug Everett** (3:52)
Yeah.

I had no idea.

**Ron Arenas** (3:56)
Well, it's just, to me, it's always strange how these are cut up, you know.

**David Deal** (4:00)
I totally agree.

**Ron Arenas** (4:01)
Yeah. But I guess they do it for population, right?

**Doug Everett** (4:05)
Probably for, well, for gerrymandering, perhaps.

**Ron Arenas** (4:09)
Yes, that too.

**Doug Everett** (4:10)
But the part that goes north into Lambert Lane, into Oro Valley, that's like the Panhandle of Texas. Yeah. And then in the southeast corner, we have a finger that dips down past Golf Links to, I believe, Escalante or so. And that's like the boot heel of Missouri.

**David Deal** (4:32)
Well, that's right in my neighborhood. I'm over there at Golf Links in Camino Seco, so.

**Ron Arenas** (4:36)
Are you in LB18?

**David Deal** (4:38)
I don't think so. I'm in Rowan Hills, so I'm not exactly sure when he says the finger. I mean, he said Golf Links, Camino Seco, and there's that, Camino Seco is that weird street, you know.
It comes through Rowan Hills, and then it jumps on the other side of the river, and then it goes all the way out to Irvington as it kind of goes past, what is it, the golf course, Fred Inkey and stuff like that, and it ends there, so I'm not really sure where I'm at.
