Sonny Styles: Is He The Selection At 5 For The Giants? | Third and Ten S3, E81

Third and Ten

February 27, 2026

Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles just put on one of the most jaw-dropping combine performances in recent memory — a record-setting 43.5-inch vertical (the best ever by a player 240+ lbs), an 11'2" broad jump, and a blazing 4.46 40-yard dash at 6'5", 244 pounds.

Belly Up Sports presents the Third and Ten Podcast, your home for all things New York football giants. Here are your hosts, Nathan Nguyen and Brian Germinaro. Take it away, fellas.

Nathan Nguyen (0:24)

What's going on, guys? Welcome again to the Third and Ten Podcast, season three, episode 81 is now live. I'm your host, Nathan Nguyen, joined always by my guy, Brian Germinaro. For those watching on YouTube, you can see a new layout that will be the official one for quite some time, or will be for a while.

Brian Germinaro (0:46)

So we decided to change it again.

Nathan Nguyen (0:49)

Yeah. Well, honestly, I got some inspiration from this Lakers podcast that I watch and I've seen on social media, and I decided to make a change, because I love the old layout of the football field background and the sports center type of vibe towards the bottom was nice, but I was like, let's change it up, especially as we approach a new season. But I just wanted to make some changes, and it looks-

Brian Germinaro (1:23)

It looks nice. It looks very nice.

Nathan Nguyen (1:24)

I like it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. For those watching on YouTube, thank you so much for your support. For those watching, or listening, I should say, on our podcast-

Brian Germinaro (1:34)

You know what we're talking about.

Nathan Nguyen (1:36)

Yeah, but for those listening on the podcast or audio version of this show, whether it's on Apple Podcast or Spotify, we appreciate you guys' support as well. You can find us at Third and Ten Podcast wherever you get your podcast. We have a lot to break down today. A lot of football stuff. I know last week or the week before, I was like, we're not going to talk a lot of football.

Brian Germinaro (2:02)

The combine happens and you realize, wait, there's so much awesome stuff we can cover.

Nathan Nguyen (2:07)

Exactly. It was an intriguing play that set out yesterday during the combine. There's obviously still a lot of workouts left for different positions. I think the quarterbacks. Yes, the quarterbacks, running backs and receivers workout on Saturday.

Brian Germinaro (2:25)

We're ready for the true Allard hype.

Nathan Nguyen (2:27)

Yeah.

Brian Germinaro (2:31)

I can tell you right now, whoever drafts him is going to draft him too high because of this. Whoever does his Pro Bowl and his Pro Day.

Nathan Nguyen (2:39)

Yeah.

Brian Germinaro (2:40)

It's just going to blow up in their face spectacularly.

Nathan Nguyen (2:43)

I don't know, man. I don't think it's going to be, I don't think he's that bad. I know there's a lot of-

Brian Germinaro (2:48)

What has he done? Look at the film.

Nathan Nguyen (2:51)

I know, but he's just one of those guys where, like, he has the tools and I feel like his performance at the combine-

Brian Germinaro (2:58)

All right, but we all said that Anthony Richardson had the tools. We also said that Jack Wilson had the tools. Like, just because at the end of the day, like, yes, what we're measuring the combine and stuff is good and important, but you have to- you can't just- that can't excuse poor play on the field. You have to look at what they did in college and be like, all right, well, if they were this player in college, what makes them think they're going to be this superstar? I know, like, Josh Allen was better in- the NFL in college, Brady better than the NFL in college, but, like, those are outliers, not the rule.

Nathan Nguyen (3:36)

Yeah, no, I totally get it.

I don't know, I just say, I think with a good workout at the combine and if he performs well at his own pro day, assuming he does, you know, perform in that for Penn State, I could see his stock rising. You just never know. I mean, we're about to talk about a player who-

Brian Germinaro (3:56)

No, his stock is going to rise. I completely agree his stock is going to rise. I'm saying it's a mistake that it's going to rise. This guy isn't that good.

Nathan Nguyen (4:05)

Yeah. He could prove us wrong. Who knows? Who knows? I have a good, for some reason, have a good feeling about him, but then again, I had a good feeling about Shadrers Sanders, and look what happened. So maybe I'm not the best person to, when it comes to scouting quarterbacks, after what happened last-

Hey, hey, easy.

Brian Germinaro (4:28)

I was gonna say, you were like, I hope he was in love with this guy.
