What is going on, y'all, and thank you all again so very much for joining us here today on Expanded Perspectives with me, Cam Hale. And as always, sitting across from me right now is big Bobby the Builder, Kyle Philson.

Kyle Philson (1:25)

How's it going, everybody? I'm here in Skelligen Studios on a nice, beautiful day in Texas.

It's in the 60s.

Cam Hale (1:32)

It's great.

Kyle Philson (1:33)

It's great weather. I wish it was like this six months a year, but then it'd be just like I was living in Northern California. Luckily, we only get about or unluckily, we get weather like this for like maybe four weeks a year. It's either really hot, for real, cold, but we never get just nice.

Cam Hale (1:48)

No, it's great. Hey, all the new people, thanks for joining us.

Kyle Philson (1:52)

Absolutely. We have gotten a surge of new listeners.

Cam Hale (1:55)

Good to see, or well to see, to know you're there.

Kyle Philson (1:58)

Well, because we just hide in our studio.

Cam Hale (1:59)

We never go anywhere.

Kyle Philson (2:00)

And we've kind of been on the tour lately. We've been going up the Ducks Unlimited Expo. We went to Ninjas or Butterflies. And we just are right now currently releasing episodes of the Halloween special on Ducks Unlimited. I'm sure if you follow us on social media, you're aware. And we've gotten a lot of new followers.

Cam Hale (2:15)

It's going crazy.

Kyle Philson (2:16)

It is awesome. I love building the community. And with building the community, always comes with more stories.

Cam Hale (2:23)

No, what have you got?

Kyle Philson (2:25)

I got a possible time slip. Yes. It says, I was at my brother's wedding talking with his wife's side of the family. For some reason, we started talking about hunting. And one of her cousins, we'll call him John, told us why he quit. Now, he's a police officer, so that should give him some credibility.

In the Hmong community, I think it's just pronounced Hmong, we practice shamanism and believe in forest spirits. I'll tell it from his point of view.

My dad and I decided to go deer hunting in a public but somewhat rural part of Minnesota. This was on a Wednesday. I told my dad, I'm going to head to the deer stand first. And when you get there, text me so I know you're there as well. Me and Cam do the same thing all the time.

Aaron (3:12)

Like I'm in position.

Kyle Philson (3:14)

All the time. I'll have a funny story. After this, I'll bring up a funny story that happened last night, actually. On the way out, not the way in.

I got to the deer stand early. I sat for a while. And my dad never text me. I tried to call him, but my phone had no service. He probably was asleep.

So I just sat longer. While sitting in the tree stand and looking around, I saw a bush move in a weird way that didn't make much sense. I didn't think anything of it. And around noon, since my dad hadn't come or called, I decided to go home. We were planning to sit all day. When I got to my car, I saw an older Hmong man and his son by where I was parked. They asked me if I shot anything. I said, well, no. Since we're Hmong, the older man asked who I was, and I told him my full name. The Hmong community is small, so everyone knows everyone. Suddenly he looked at me and said, son, are you the person that's been missing for a couple days?

I told him, no, I've been hunting today only. At that point, the older man said, son, if you're a ghost, be upfront with us or you'll be struck down by lightning. We say that stuff to bad spirits. The older man's son started walking around their truck and moved his rifle into his hand. I told him, I'm not missing. It was only Wednesday, and if you didn't believe me, touch me. I'm not a ghost. I pulled out my phone and noticed that it said Saturday. A whole three days passed while I was sitting in my deer stand. What felt like a couple of hours had been three days. My phone finally had service. I called my dad. My parents, the county sheriff and the ambulance showed up to check on me to make sure I was okay.

Since then, I stopped hunting and I only fish once in a while.

That's crazy. The guy went hunting and was gone. I'm assuming he doesn't give the rest of the details. The reason he never could call his dad is because he was somewhere else.
