Come back. Julie Burton, Greg Burton, and Melanie Burton. Hi, guys.
So we are here to talk about the 100 innings for a Cura-Jeff Burton Memorial softball game. Now, explain to us now for anybody listening who needs a refresher on how legendary Jeff's passion for softball was, can you remind everyone how this whole 100 innings, crazy idea got started in the first place?

I can do that.

Ladies and gentlemen, Julie Burton.

Jeff has played softball for as long as we were together, 27 years, that man played softball twice a week, no matter what, did not matter when, but a very dear friend of ours started a-

**SPEAKER_1** (2:25)
Missed the birth of both of your kids, by the way, because it was a softball game.

**Julie Burton** (2:28)
Yeah, exactly.
That would, no. That, no, that would have been divorce. That would not have happened. So, friend of ours started a hundred and softball game 20-something years ago, very good friend of ours, Bubba. And so, Jeff, when he was in the throes of his Crohn's disease, started a hundred innings for a cure for Crohn's and colitis. As Jeff got older and as he came down with cancer, he could no longer play softball. So, about eight months after he passed, his brothers came to me and said, hey, we have this idea. We'd really love to do a whole charity thing for Jeff, which is overwhelming, right? In addition to all of that, these boys grew up playing softball with their dad, which is just a great honor to him as well. So, softball lives in the Burton blood.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:18)
So, we should say it's Saturday, August 22nd, and it's at Fenton Park, Fenton Park, yeah, Baseball Field Number Three. It's on Larkin Williams Road in Fenton. Now, Jeff didn't just organize these. He tried to play in almost all 100 innings himself.
Did he actually ever let anybody else play shortstop or was he out there for like 18 hours straight?

**Greg Burton** (3:39)
Pretty much, I'd say 17 of the 18 hours, yeah. But yeah, that was his position and that's everybody expected him to be out there. And that's just what he enjoyed. He enjoyed competing, having friends around and along with roller hockey, but softball was his love.

**SPEAKER_1** (4:03)
Softball was his passion. And so Proceeds will go to Siteman Cancer Center in Jeff's name.

**Julie Burton** (4:10)
Correct.

**SPEAKER_1** (4:11)
So explain, you know, people hear 100 innings and think, oh, we're keeping them on the field for three straight days. So break down how the hourly, you know, 50-minute rotation works for team signups. And Melanie, you want to handle this?

**Melanie Burton** (4:24)
Yeah, that's me.
We do 50-minute games. So each team, at least nine people, will play for 50 minutes. We do three innings at a time. So you play three innings on the field, then you play three innings at bat. And then one 50-minute game, and then we go on to the next two teams that play. And we will do that until we complete 100 innings. Last year, that took us to about 10 p.m. Yeah, 10 o'clock.
