Alright, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery Podcast. I'm Michael Gervais. And the idea behind these conversations is to learn. Is to learn from people who have dedicated their life efforts to the path of mastery, which is really about understanding the nuances of their craft at a deep and rich level.

And this conversation is not meant for us to learn just about the craft, but also more importantly, the human that has pursued the path, the person and the strategies and the pitfalls and what they've come to learn about themselves and the human experience in general as a point of view for us to reflect upon.

Finding Mastery is brought to you by Listening. This is exactly what their app does. It helps you listen to books and content that you might not be able to sit down and actually have the time to read. There was a time in early my career where I remember sitting in the back hallways of my university and being in the library for hours reading all of the sports psychology literature and research that I could get my hands on. I loved it. I cherished it. The field of sports psychology is just absolutely on a bender right now. It is growing so fast, it is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the research that's coming out. That's why I love what listening is doing. It's a game changer for me. The listening app, it lets me listen to anything that's in writing while I'm on the go. Everything from academic papers to books, PDFs, web pages, articles, anything that I put in their app, it reads it to me. It narrates to me. Plus, their AI is great. The way that the interface sounds, of course, it's not a human that's reading, but the AI is so good at what they're doing, it just works.

And then there's also this note-taking function. They know that people like us like to take notes. And so it's as simple as when I hear a key idea, I just instantly press a button and that section is saved. They've done a really nice job with this product and they've got a great offer for us.

Usually they only give a two-week trial, but because you are listening to Finding Mastery, you get a whole month for free. Check that out, a whole month for free. So I want to encourage you to go check it out. listening.com/findingmastery or use the code Finding Mastery at checkout to get started. Again, it's listening.com/findingmastery or use the code Finding Mastery at checkout to get one month completely free. Finding Mastery is brought to you by Ritual. They are a supplement company. They just care about what they're doing. They are flat out committed and they've got this idea that Ritual is made traceable, which means that their products are made with a visible supply chain so that you can see exactly what they're doing. Their key ingredients, the supply chain, the research, the whole thing. For companies that are showing you exactly what's on the inside, exactly how they're doing it, so that you know and feel comfortable knowing what you're consuming, I think it's a really nice touch. I think it's required. I think they are setting the standard for supplement companies. The product that I'm using right now that I flat out love is their Symbiotic. It's a three-in-one gut health supplement that, you know, microbiome is really important. So I need it. I think that you might benefit from it too, but of course I don't know. Go check out what they're doing.

And it just gives me this piece of mind knowing that this is a company, this is a brand that doesn't cut corners. If you haven't had the chance to listen to our Finding Mastery episode with Ritual's founder, Katarina Schneider, I really want to encourage you to go check that out. It's episode 428 She's awesome. It's a fascinating conversation where Kat beautifully describes her story and Ritual's mission. They are investing in their company's quality so that you can invest in the quality of your life.

So I want to encourage you to head over to ritual.com/mastery to get 25% off your first month of Ritual. And that's where you can get started on their subscription model. Again, this one's just a little different. It's ritual.com/mastery for 25% off. So in this conversation, it's with Dacher Keltner. Now he's a social psychologist who focuses on the pro-social emotions that we experience, such as love and sympathy and gratitude and compassion and awe.

And very often, most often, we focus on emotions that are problematic on our pursuit. And we talk about emotions like they are something that we, you know, are run by or overrun by. And so we think about anger and fear and those types of emotions. So he's flipped the script on it and focused on the emotions that support us to be great as an evolutionary and biological basis, he wants to understand why we have them, and then how to harness them, how to control them, how to guide them. And so that's what this conversation is about. It's fantastic. I love it. He's also, Dacher is also the co-director of the Greater Good Science Center and the author of Born to Be Good, as you can find out information, more information from him there. And he's also written the book The Power Paradox.
