Picture yourself watching football with someone you're close to. Isn't it nice how they bring snacks unprompted? Or how they're cheering makes you cheer even more. Nothing beats watching the game with friends.

This week's headlines have one chair left in Turin, one chair left in Indian Wells, and two chairs talking about money. Before we get to that, as always, please hit Subscribe on YouTube and give us a follow on your favorite podcast platform so you can stay up on all things Served. That said, let's get to it.

Set number one is an update on the slots for the race to Turin, where we are roughly a month out from an ATP finals that will be without a defending champion. With Yannick Center out for the remainder of the year, that means the eighth and final slot in the finals will fall to the ninth player in the race. So let's run a quick reminder, slotted in order of the race. First, the names you can pencil in, Zverev and Alcares are officially qualified and Shelton is mathematically safe. Kaboli, Tiafoe and Fees are the next in line, but are not guaranteed as of yet. All three men are already out of Shanghai, but will be playing more matches before the finals. That accounts for six players. Now for the players on the bubble fighting to hold their current positions. Per the ATP's live race, and once you take Center out of the picture, Medvedev holds the seventh slot. And as of overnight, the eighth and final slot belongs to a 20-year-old. Rafael Hodar beat Caspar Roode in the Shanghai quarterfinals on Friday morning. That bumps Hodar from 2,709 points to roughly 2,909. Hodar is now sitting in the last chair at the Tour Finals with a semi-final still to play this weekend. So who got knocked out of the picture? Alex Diemenjur, who sits at 2880, just 29 points back. And right behind Diemen is Novak Djokovic, who has 2,840, now 69 points off that last slot. Both Diemen and Novak are done in Shanghai, so neither can answer this week. Novak has said he's planning to play only Paris the rest of the way. So Diemen gets the first crack at it in Vienna and Basel the week of October 26th.

Now on to set number 2, and it's the same kind of race for the Women's Tour. As of Wednesday, 7 of the 8 spots are filled by Rybakina, Sabalenka, Andreeva, Pugula, Goff, Noskova, and now Svitolina, who clinched a seat at the table by beating Samsonova in the second round in Wuhan. As for that last spot, Karolina Muchova currently holds it with 4,625 points and was by all accounts the favorite to clinch this week. But on Thursday, Diana Schneider had other plans. The world number 13 beat Muchova in straight sets in the round of 16 at the Wuhan Open. So with that loss, the door remains mathematically a jar for the 7th seed Iga Swiatek to swoop in this week with a title in Wuhan. As of the time of this release, Swiatek is still alive in the draw playing a quarterfinal against Anli today, Friday. Quick flowers to Iga who picked up her 150th career win at the 1000 level, doing so in just 187 matches, which according to Opta Ace, is the fewest of anyone since the format was introduced in 2009 in Graz Iga. Exciting finish with just 3 weeks left to spare before these finals. We'll keep you updated.
