Silva Latest Top-150 Ranking Changes + Minicamp News Reactions (Episode 989 with Evan Silva and Adam Levitan)

A chance for us to get some actual information, or maybe fake information, from coaches, players and media. To discuss everything that happened at Minicamp and OTAs and whether it's real or fake, I'm joined by Evan Silva. Evan, how's it going today?

It's going great. I've also started to make some adjustments in my top 150 as I start to bang out the tiers, got the quarterbacks in, running backs are next. We'll start on the team previews soon. Started to do a bunch of drafts. So testing my will against my top 150
I'll have opinions change on it. I made some sweeping changes that we'll get to, we'll discuss. Also, there's been enough news to make adjustments based off of the news.

On today's show, we're going to discuss everything that happened at Minicamp and OTAs whether it's real news, fake news, and how it should adjust rankings. We'll also hit on some of the biggest changes that Silva made in his latest run of his infamous Silva top 150
Let's get into it here. We're going to go through about 21 headlines here today. Story number one, Evan, Alec Pierce on a four-to-six-month recovery from late March left ankle surgery. This one, I knew he had a little bit of an ankle issue. I didn't think that he had surgery that required a four-to-six-month rehab, especially after they gave him this huge contract. I would think, I would hope that the Colts were aware of this before they gave him that big contract, but I'm not certain about that either. Does this concern you, Silva? What are your thoughts on Alec Pierce, knowing now he's staring at a four-to-six-month rehab?

It absolutely concerns me, because Alec Pierce, to this point, has been a bit of a one-trick pony. You know, a guy who doesn't run the full route tree, and the thinking behind giving him an extension, letting go of Michael Pittman, could Alec Pierce do more? Now he's losing opportunities to do more within the offense during the offseason, and we don't know if he's going to be ready for training camp. I'm not even 100% sure that he's going to be 100% by the time that week one rolls around. This is one of the reasons that I'm really high on Josh Downs. I think that Josh Downs has a chance to lead the Colts in receiving this year, and I also think that Tyler Warren is very much in that mix.

Yeah, so I was already had my concerns around Alec Pierce. Can he expand his route tree, like Silva said, from a one-trick pony to running some of the stuff that Michael Pittman did? You know, and to me, that's an open question. So I was already a little bit weary there. I was already a little bit weary with Daniel Jones, who we know has been very up and down throughout his career. Now you add in this ankle surgery, and I'm pretty concerned on Alec Pierce. We dropped him to 87 overall in the DraftKings Best Ball ranks. Silva is still at 71 overall on Alec Pierce here. But yeah, I mean, I think it's a legit concern, and I continue to be high on Tyler Warren and Josh Downs also here for the Colts.
Story number two, speaking of injuries that we were not aware of for guys that got a little bit of money in free agency or in Pierce's case a lot, in this case a little, Chris Rodriguez had left foot surgery is expected back for training camp. Now, Chris Rodriguez sustained this injury early in the off-season program. They're calling it a procedure. Again, he's expected to be ready for the start of camp in late July. Unlike Alec Pierce who they're saying might not be back until midway through camp or closer to week one, they are saying C-Rod should be back here for week one. Silva, thoughts on C-Rod, Tooten and this backfield now?

Yeah, I still don't love it even though the expectation that is that Chris Rodriguez will be back for training camp. I think this was not an anticipated procedure. And it has given LeQuint Allen and Bachel Tooten more opportunities during the offseason. So I bumped up Bachel Tooten. I came out at the beginning of the offseason saying that I thought that Chris Rodriguez would be the starter in week one. I no longer believe that that is the case. My concern for Bachel Tooten is that this is going to end up still being a three-way timeshare where Bachel Tooten is sort of the lead back but he loses a lot of money touches with LeQuint Allen in the passing on passing downs and Chris Rodriguez being the bigger back at the goal line. But I understand the excitement about Bachel Tooten. I had it for him last offseason. He is a really explosive athlete. I think he's going to come out the gates as the Jaguars lead back in an above average offense at worst. So I have a level of excitement about him.
