Someone was real disappointed that I was so excited on the last cold open because the Sox lost, but I was like, hey, we're going to talk about it. Like, this is what you have energy, because I feel down. And you know what, I took yesterday off because I felt down and depressed. And the last thing I wanted to do was talk about this game because we were kind of talking about it in the elevator coming up.
I still feel like they had a chance. I know that they're not better than Cleveland. Cleveland just proved that they were better than the White Sox. But look at that game. I feel like, you know, the inning where the bases are low to goes the White Sox way. That game could be a lot different. I don't know. I don't feel great about the loss. And I still feel like the White Sox are a better team. And then Cleveland wins seven to three. Does that make you feel better or worse? How are you guys feeling?
Herb Lawrence (1:30)
I think I feel worse that Cleveland won yesterday at Tampa for the first game of the ALCS that that could have been us. Like, we're just as good, if not better than Cleveland. The records state that they're exactly the same as far record during the 18 games they played this year. But Cleveland happened to get the third win quicker than we got our third win in the playoffs. So, yeah, it hurts even more that they're doing well in the first game of the ALCS. I'm rooting hard for the race to just send those people home because just detestable attitudes after they won. Sometimes, you know, here in Chicago, we act a little jerky when we win. Specifically, the Green Bay Packers wins. But I thought Cleveland went way over the board. And like, it's a team that I hadn't hated a lot before the series. Now, I got a little distaste for Cleveland and their fan base. They're feeling themselves a little too much, with the Browns being kinda good, the Guardians kinda being good.
You know, the feeling of themselves way too much. I want them to be taking down a peg.
Malachai Hayes (2:31)
I can't decide if it makes me feel better or worse, because on the one hand, like you, I still think the Sox are a better team, we're the better team. And it makes me feel a little bit better to know, you know, knowing that the Rays are full well a better team than both the Sox and the Guardians, that it can still happen to teams that are head and shoulders better than them. On the other hand, I am a dedicated hater at heart, and I just want to see Cleveland out of there as a fan as quickly as possible. And I really I just don't want to keep seeing those same same guys over and over again. And yeah, I'm somebody who will be not gracious in victory or defeat sometimes, you know, as all of us can be.
I do feel like I can't quite articulate it. It seemed like there was a little bit of vitriol from Cleveland side these last month or two that maybe felt a little bit out of place. But I don't know, maybe that's just classic sour grapes. I don't think I'm quite at the point yet where I can really make that call to clear.
Sean Anderson (3:31)
Maybe if you're in the Cleveland clubhouse, you have to really put your target on somebody. You have to hate somebody. You have to make sure that you detest every part of the White Sox that everybody likes. You know, the clubhouse kind of banter, the whole stuff that they started in the playoffs with Vassel and Jersey, right? Like, you know what? Cleveland started making fun of that in their celebration. I don't hate it. It feels like Cleveland wanted to win. Cleveland had a distaste for the White Sox and wanted to beat them. It feels like that was kind of the decider. And it goes from the players on the field, apparently, to the social media admin. Hey, okay, that's fine. I had stuff that I was gonna talk complete crap. I had a Zach and myself tweet, all bookmarked, and we needed to be like, hey, enjoy your vacation, dumbass.
