Because the captain, he never said anything. He never shared those details with the media regarding him dealing with any type of injury. The only reason we're finding out about Brunson getting surgery is because it's scheduled. If it wasn't for that, we would have never known. But finally, we have these updates. Jalen Brunson, he will be undergoing surgery. Here are the latest updates. Shout out to NBA Insider Ian Begley for giving us this following information. According to him, Jalen Brunson will be recovering slash rehabbing for at least two months, following his surgery to repair an injury in his left forearm slash wrist area.
Reports from KnicksFanTV stated that the procedure will happen today, on Tuesday. Brunson played through discomfort in that area during the finals run. According to Ian Begley, the fact that Brunson was playing through that pain in that finals run, it just adds another layer to this remarkable story.
And it looks like we have even more breaking news because apparently, that surgery that was supposed to happen today, it apparently already happened, at least according to Steph Bondi.
According to Bondi, as the Post is reporting, the procedure was on his left wrist, not his right one. And it already happened. The recovery time is now 6 to 8 weeks. And this update is being confirmed by multiple NBA insiders, including Sham Sharania. According to Sham's, New York Knicks Finals MVP Jalen Brunson is undergoing surgery on his left wrist, and is expected to return to basketball activities later this summer. Brunson played through the left wrist injury during the Knicks Championship run, and now requires off-season surgery. Shout out to New York Basketball on the AppX for also giving us this following information. According to James L. Edwards with The Athletic, barring any setbacks, Jalen Brunson's left wrist issue isn't expected to linger into training camp. Brunson's surgery today comes after winning the ECF and Finals MVP, despite the ailment to his dominant arm. Rehab will be at least 2 months, according to Ian Begley.
I didn't think that Jalen Brunson could still show me even more ways to be a leader than everything we've already seen. And as soon as I think that, he proves me wrong yet again. This man was dealing with an injury, a very bad injury to his left wrist, and that affected his game, definitely affected his shooting. But he never said anything to anybody, never said anything to the media, never used it as an excuse, never said anything to anybody. He just went out there and played his best each and every night, left everything he had out there each and every night, and because of him, he helped New York win a championship. He dropped 45 points in a closeout game on the road against San Antonio, dealing with this injury.
