SPEAKER_1 (0:16)

Welcome to Escape This Podcast, a show that's a mix between tabletop role playing and escape room puzzles. This is another Dani Room, written by Dani for the sixth episode of the season.

SPEAKER_2 (0:27)

I think that's where we are right now.

SPEAKER_1 (0:28)

Going well on our way on our train to 10 years. It continues chugging along. It went to space for a little bit, but it's back on the rails.

Every episode, we have an audio escape room full of puzzles and characters and story, and we have guests to come on and solve that escape room. We have two new guests to the show this week. Firstly, you'll know him from Dropout, from Noobs on the Goof Tower, and from any other fun live show you've seen him in. Welcome, Chris Grace.

Chris Grace (0:55)

Hello, thanks for having me. Thanks for, I assume we're not going to be in space, but maybe we will.

SPEAKER_1 (1:00)

No, so you missed the ship. Space was last week. We never do the same theme two weeks in a row.

Chris Grace (1:06)

All right, gotcha.

SPEAKER_1 (1:08)

We're very excited to have you on the show. We also have joining you a magician, a mentalist. A mentalist is probably the more appropriate term, and it sounds cooler. Welcome to the show, Eric Dittelman.

Eric Dittelman (1:19)

Yes, hello, thanks for having me. It's great to be here.

SPEAKER_1 (1:23)

I'm assuming you can get all the answers straight out of our minds, and you don't have to solve any puzzles?

Eric Dittelman (1:27)

No, I will not be using my powers, because I like to have some fun during the games.

SPEAKER_2 (1:31)

I only use my powers for good.

Eric Dittelman (1:33)

I like to work it out and figure it out.

SPEAKER_1 (1:35)

We're very excited to have you on as well. Now, actually, I think both of you, if people enjoy this and they want to go see more, obviously, there's plenty of places that they can find things you've done online, but you'll both have some live shows coming up. Chris, you're in Plano, Texas, on November the 22nd?

Chris Grace (1:51)

That's right, at the Mic Drop Comedy Club.

SPEAKER_1 (1:54)

Mic Drop Comedy Club.

Chris Grace (1:54)

Just near Dallas. It's basically, just think of it as Dallas.

SPEAKER_1 (1:57)

Hey Plano, you're basically Dallas.

Chris Grace (1:59)

I mean, don't say that to people there.

SPEAKER_1 (2:00)

Hey Plano, if you're in Plano, you live in Dallas. Sorry, deal with it.

SPEAKER_2 (2:04)

Plano, Fort Worth, all the same.

SPEAKER_1 (2:07)

It's just Plano, Dallas. And Eric, you've got a show coming up. You're in Speak Easy Magic, off Broadway show.

Eric Dittelman (2:15)

Yeah, it's kind of an immersive show with a lot of surprises. We've been doing it in New York for the past eight years or so. So it's quite the experience where you get to see a lot of different types of magic in one night. And we have a rotating cast. So hopefully I'm there quite often, but there's a chance if you go, I might not be there.

SPEAKER_2 (2:35)

But that just means you've got to go more than once.

SPEAKER_1 (2:36)

Yeah, just keep going.

Eric Dittelman (2:37)

You've got to go more than once to make sure you catch me. And you'll see some mind reading and mentalism firsthand.

SPEAKER_1 (2:43)

We're very excited to have the two of you play through a room. I think. Have you done Escape Rooms together before?

Chris Grace (2:48)

I don't think we have.

Eric Dittelman (2:49)

Not together. No, separately.

SPEAKER_1 (2:52)

Do you think you'll have styles that work well? Yeah, I think so.

Eric Dittelman (2:56)

I think so.

Chris Grace (2:57)

Wait, Eric, were you about to say no, Eric?

Eric Dittelman (2:59)

I was going to say we're about to find out.

SPEAKER_1 (3:04)

Well, lovely. In fact, that gets me to our first question. This is an Escape Room show. So perhaps starting with Chris, what is your Escape Room experience?

Chris Grace (3:13)

I think I've been to maybe 12 or 13 in total.

SPEAKER_1 (3:19)

Oh, nice.

Chris Grace (3:20)

I would guess.

I went through a little phase. My family is also really into them. It's just sometimes in a certain city, you can kind of exhaust all the ones that are available to you. Then I actually don't understand how this works as a business because once you do one of the rooms, it's like you're kind of done.

SPEAKER_1 (3:38)

It's an interesting thing. It makes the business very collaborative. People aren't really in competition with each other as much because they all want to share their own audience with each other to get new people into each room.
