Their peace is shattered when a mysterious visitor arrives, triggering a chain of events that forces Chris to confront her past and protect her daughter from a vengeful warlord known as The Dragon, played by Tim Roth. The movie kicks off with a promising start, as Chris's tranquil life is disrupted by a suspicious encounter with a supposed land developer. This encounter quickly escalates into a tense standoff, setting the stage for the arrival of Chris's former sniper squad. The film's first half is filled with suspense and action, as Chris and her team prepare to defend against the looming threat. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the plot is thin and lacks depth, relying heavily on repetitive sniping sequences that fail to deliver the expected thrills.
Radha Mitchell delivers a solid performance as Chris, embodying the character's stoic resilience and emotional baggage. Her portrayal of a mother willing to do whatever it takes to protect her child adds a layer of emotional weight to the film. Her journey from a reclusive veteran to a determined protector provides some emotional resonance, though it is not enough to fully compensate for the film's narrative flaws.
