It's just the bullpen is so pathetic. It's the reason that they're there. In fact, by the way, they're going to lose this 111 to 7 or something like that. That will make eight out of a nine.
And the Royals will have won eight in a row.
Here's some stats for you.
Tigers' run differential is very good this year. They are seventh in run differential. They're plus 77 Only the top playoff teams are ahead of them, like the Brewers and the Dodgers, the Yankees, Braves, Cubs, Red Sox. The reason, and they're way ahead of the eighth place team, the White Sox. It's because the Bullpen, check out the statistics, you're not going to believe it. They have saved 26 games this year, the Bullpen, and they've blown 28 saves. That means 28 times they came in with a lead and blew the lead. So the run differential is great. They've lost 37 games by one and two runs. Kyle Finnegan leads all of baseball with eight blown saves. And this isn't a save because he came in with them behind nine-seven, but made sure when he relieved Andrew Sears. By the way, so it's five to five, and this is how the Tigers have given up. Who comes in in a five-five game? A rookie who was never pitched in the major leagues before, Andrew Sears. They bring him up, he's looked, well, he's a 10th round draft pick from 23, but it's audition time. They're auditioning for next year. They are next year, and the game, of course, that stands out was the one a few days ago in Pittsburgh. Three-one in the eighth. Finnegan again comes in, gives up a run, and then Kenley Jansen, two home runs in the ninth inning for a walk-off against Pittsburgh. That one, I think, took all the air that was left in the balloon, put it that way.
