All right, everyone, we are reviewing Sense And Sensibility, the 1995 version, directed by Ang Lee, and the story is as follows. When Eleanor Dashwood's father dies, her family's finances are crippled.
After the Dashwoods moved to a cottage in Devonshire, Eleanor's sister Marianne is torn between the handsome John Willoughby and the older Colonel Brandon. Meanwhile, Eleanor's romantic hopes with Edward Farris are hindered due to his prior engagement. Both Eleanor and Marianne strive for love while the circumstances in their lives constantly change. The film is starring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet, and Hugh Grant. It is directed by Ang Lee and written by Emma Thompson. Here to join me today for this throwback Patreon exclusive podcast review, I have Nadia Dalimonte.

SPEAKER_4 (4:32)
All right, everyone. Jane Austen. We all love Jane Austen here. Don't we?
I imagine we do.
And if we don't, we love this movie. I think. I don't know. Maybe I don't know if you all love this movie. I'm assuming you all love this movie.
I remember I saw this movie back at the time when Ang Lee was super popular in the early 2000s because of Karachi Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain. And so I wanted to then watch all of his previous movies. And this was certainly one of them. This has been a story that has been around since 1811, based upon the novel of the same name. Emma Thompson, who wrote the screenplay for this, had also just recently won an Oscar for working on Howard's End. So she was obviously at the height of her powers in Hollywood. And you had Kate Winslet, who was also still very young in her career. Hugh Grant, man, this is a very different time for Hugh Grant, especially. But the movie was a commercial success. It received a lot of nominations, seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. The movie would go on to win the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay.
