Hello, and welcome to Table Manners. We are doing our second helpings, and this week we have the gorgeous, brilliant Emilia Clarke, who was one of our first, she was a really early guest. I remember it being a big deal when we got Emilia Clarke. It came out in December 2019
**Lennie Ware** (0:21)
She was coming on to talk about her Christmas film, Last Christmas, which I still watch, a proper Christmas film.
**Jessie Ware** (0:27)
Yeah, we were ending series eight with Emilia Clarke, and we were so excited to have the Mother of Dragons on. And it was thanks to Greg James that we had her on.
Because he told me that she was a fan of the podcast. So I slid into her DMs and we made it happen. Mom, you made chicken soup with matzo balls at her request despite being gluten intolerant. Okay. And we did monkfish skewers and rosemary stalks. We also did salt and vinegar potatoes and I made a dairy-free chocolate cake which no doubt was probably quite crap because I'm still rubbish at cakes. This is Emilia Clarke coming up on Second Helpings.
The stunning Emilia Clarke has just walked through the door with like a huge amount of gifts.
**Emilia Clarke** (1:14)
I can't wait for you guys to-
they're fun. Like one of their Christmas themes. Wow.
**Jessie Ware** (1:20)
What is it? Is it a bauble?
**Emilia Clarke** (1:21)
Yeah, but it's filled with Christmas chocolates. You've got one of them each.
**Jessie Ware** (1:25)
That's amazing.
**Emilia Clarke** (1:27)
Because I figured babies might be well into being like, oh my God.
**Jessie Ware** (1:31)
No, these are amazing.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:32)
I just thought they were so cool.
**Jessie Ware** (1:34)
They're like biscuits, kind of like a bourbon and jammy Dodgers, but they're not all chocolate.
**SPEAKER_5** (1:41)
So they're chocolate in the shape of your jammy Dodgers.
**Jessie Ware** (1:46)
It's like you knew my daughter said just before you came, I want chocolate.
**Emilia Clarke** (1:50)
Amazing. You're amazing. Thanks so much. No worries.
**SPEAKER_5** (1:53)
I loved it.
**Emilia Clarke** (1:53)
It was like my most joyous thing.
**SPEAKER_5** (1:55)
I was trying to work out.
**Emilia Clarke** (1:56)
I was like, what am I going to get you guys? It's got to be Christmas.
**Lennie Ware** (1:57)
When do you have time to go shopping?
**Emilia Clarke** (2:00)
Oh, please. That's very close to me. So, and they were like, you're, she called me a regular today.
**Lennie Ware** (2:05)
I was like, oh no.
**Emilia Clarke** (2:07)
Are you a chocolate?
**SPEAKER_5** (2:08)
That's embarrassing. I'm, yeah.
**Emilia Clarke** (2:10)
Like it's like a need. Someone once told me that if you crave chocolate, like dark chocolate, which is what I like, she had really trained myself to like, because when I was, do you know what I mean? You're like, yeah, white chocolate all day. Obviously.
**Lennie Ware** (2:22)
Yeah, milk chocolate.
**Emilia Clarke** (2:24)
Yeah, yeah, milk chocolate. But then when I started getting into dark chocolate, someone told me that when you crave it, it's your craving oxygen.
**Jessie Ware** (2:32)
Oh, I heard it was magnesium.
**Emilia Clarke** (2:34)
Or something. There's like some genuine, because you know, you get those cravings, especially for dark, where you're like, it's like a pregnancy craving.
**Lennie Ware** (2:39)
I thought it was when you had your period.
**Emilia Clarke** (2:42)
Oh, the iron ore. The iron in it, yeah. There's all that good stuff in it. So yeah, so I get well into that and kind of try and enjoy it.
**Jessie Ware** (2:49)
So you've like brought over chocolates. You're a chocoholic. Are you sick to death of Christmas yet?
**Emilia Clarke** (2:54)
So we shot it last year, last year. Around Christmas. At Christmas. So we shot it all before Christmas. Then we took two weeks off to have our own Christmases and then carried on.
And it was kind of, it worked out sort of well, because we were filming it at Christmas. And we're filming it in London, where it's all Christmassy anyway. And you're just like, amazing. All it did is make all of our own Christmases the most exhausting things you've ever, like, because we're all like, this isn't a movie. Where are the fairy lights on crack?
**Jessie Ware** (3:21)
Like, what's it? Okay, yeah, okay, perfect.
**Emilia Clarke** (3:24)
He's gorgeous. Yeah, he's cute.
**Lennie Ware** (3:26)
Now, was he in Crazy Rich Asians?
**Emilia Clarke** (3:28)
Yeah, Crazy Rich Asians.
**Jessie Ware** (3:31)
Good kisser?
**Emilia Clarke** (3:32)
Yes, genuinely, yeah. He's so good looking. Yeah, no, because there are some where you're like, oh, but no, he was just brilliant.
