Hello, and welcome to Table Manners' Second Helpings 2026 And we're going to start off this series with an episode from February 2020
The turn of the COVID lockdown.
**Lennie Ware** (0:16)
Yeah.
**Jessie Ware** (0:17)
And it was Callum Turner who came over.
**Lennie Ware** (0:19)
I've got to say something now. Callum, I think I had COVID at the time, and I hope you weren't till later.
**Jessie Ware** (0:26)
Yeah.
**Lennie Ware** (0:26)
Because I was later tested and I had antibodies, and I was quite ill that week, but I was supposed to be a trooper and carried on, and I never in my wildest dreams thought it was COVID.
**Jessie Ware** (0:36)
We were very excited to have Callum over because I'd kind of fallen in love with his character in The Capture. He was playing a character called Sean Emery, and my husband said I hadn't made that much effort since my wedding day.
**Lennie Ware** (0:49)
I know. It was PDL.
**Jessie Ware** (0:52)
What's that?
**Lennie Ware** (0:53)
Pre-Dualeeper.
**Jessie Ware** (0:54)
Pre-Dualeeper. I think I accidentally said at the end of the episode, thank you Callum Turner for coming all over me.
**Lennie Ware** (1:01)
What a gorgeous man.
**Jessie Ware** (1:02)
He's a lovely man. He's also very handsome. But he was coming on to talk about the film adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma, which was directed by Autumn DeWild.
**Lennie Ware** (1:11)
I think I watched that during the long lockdown months where we watched Ellie midday.
**Jessie Ware** (1:17)
I made Bella's Sherry Cod with tomato and butter beans, which was from our cookbook, which I think was about to come out. We served it with Dusty Knuckle sourdough. You did a bread and butter panettone, because you had leftover Ottolenghi panettone from Christmas. Delicious Callum Turner coming up on Second Hell Things.
Callum Turner, thanks so much for being here.
**Callum Turner** (1:52)
It's nice to be here.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:53)
Where have you come from?
**Callum Turner** (1:55)
From home.
**Jessie Ware** (1:55)
Where's home?
**Callum Turner** (1:57)
I live in Kennington.
**Lennie Ware** (1:58)
Oh, wow.
**Callum Turner** (2:00)
I know, it's perfect.
**Lennie Ware** (2:01)
Whereabouts? Oh, just down the road. Yeah, I used to work at the Belgrave when it was a hospital.
Opposite the Oval, there's a kind of flats and it was a children's hospital.
**Callum Turner** (2:10)
Oh, yeah, it's quite a spooky looking building.
**Lennie Ware** (2:12)
Yeah, it was gorgeous in fact.
**Callum Turner** (2:13)
It's flats now.
**Lennie Ware** (2:14)
Yeah, I know, it's sad.
**Jessie Ware** (2:16)
Are you, would you call Chelsea South London?
**Lennie Ware** (2:21)
You're shaking your head.
**Callum Turner** (2:22)
Would you call it South London? I definitely would say more South London than West London. South West, it's South West.
**Lennie Ware** (2:28)
It's literally in the middle. It's not over the river.
**Callum Turner** (2:32)
I bet it's on the river.
**Jessie Ware** (2:33)
You wouldn't say you're a North Londoner, would you? No, no.
**Lennie Ware** (2:36)
Absolutely not.
**Jessie Ware** (2:37)
No, not even a West London.
**Callum Turner** (2:39)
I mean, I'd say South West, yeah.
**Lennie Ware** (2:41)
So where do you go to eat after the match? Do you remember the Blue Elephant?
**Jessie Ware** (2:45)
No, it was a Thai restaurant.
**Lennie Ware** (2:48)
On, yeah, Fulham Broadway. And you walked over a bridge.
**Callum Turner** (2:53)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
**Lennie Ware** (2:54)
And you walked over a bridge and they had water running through.
**Callum Turner** (2:56)
Next to where the Fulham Broadway is now.
**Lennie Ware** (2:57)
Yeah.
**Callum Turner** (2:58)
Yeah, I remember that place.
**Lennie Ware** (2:59)
Yeah.
**Callum Turner** (3:00)
Yeah, I don't think I ever went in there.
**Lennie Ware** (3:01)
Did you go to football matches?
**Callum Turner** (3:02)
I got a season ticket, yeah. It's my fourth year.
**Lennie Ware** (3:05)
Fourth year.
**Callum Turner** (3:06)
How did you get it? This is a big contention. You're looking at me because you're a United fan. You're giving me...
**Lennie Ware** (3:09)
It's fine. I like Frank Lombard.
**Callum Turner** (3:11)
You do?
**Lennie Ware** (3:12)
I think he's a nice bloke.
**Callum Turner** (3:13)
That's not what you said before the podcast.
**Lennie Ware** (3:14)
No, I just don't know how good he is, but he's a nice bloke. He's probably better than Lombard.
**Callum Turner** (3:18)
No, look, we all love him and, you know, he's a hero. He's a legend, isn't he? He's a hero. He's a legend. He's an icon.
**Lennie Ware** (3:25)
I prefer him to John Terry.
**Jessie Ware** (3:26)
Anyway, how's things post The Capture?
**Callum Turner** (3:30)
