Welcome to Homemaker Chic Podcast. This is season 30
Shaye Elliot (0:09)
Angela's age.
Angela Reed (0:11)
Yes.
Three, zero for 30 seasons. Each about 10 to 12 weeks, give or take, we have been rescuing the art of homemaking from the daily grind, red lips, no denim jumpers. I am Angela Reed of Parisian Farm Girl. That's Shaye Elliott of Shaye's Italian Kitchen.
Shaye Elliot (0:34)
That's right.
Angela Reed (0:34)
See how I did that?
Shaye Elliot (0:35)
I saw you hold your breath.
Angela Reed (0:36)
I know. You were like, is she going to get it? I struggle sometimes.
SPEAKER_3 (0:43)
Here we are.
Shaye Elliot (0:45)
Season 30 So by the time that this airs, Angela and I will be back.
Angela Reed (0:52)
We will be back from our respective trips.
SPEAKER_3 (0:54)
From our trips?
Shaye Elliot (0:56)
Let's hope that we get back.
Angela Reed (0:59)
Everything goes well. Oh my.
I am at that point. Gosh, you leave in a few days. I leave in 24 I'm at the don't-snap-your-angle stage. Every step I take on a pebble.
Shaye Elliot (1:22)
Paris is not as easy to navigate when you have a boot.
Angela Reed (1:26)
No, that would not be good. That would not be good. Oh my gosh.
Shaye Elliot (1:32)
Yeah, so if you're new around here, Homemaker Chic started in 2020, and this is the podcast where we are coming alongside you to rescue the art of homemaking from the daily grind. Red lips, no denim jumpers. We joked back in the day that this wasn't like 80s homeschool mom. The word, the homemaker ethos has expanded so far beyond that.
Although the 80s and 90s fashion did come back a little bit since then, but that's okay.
Angela Reed (2:04)
They've tried to revive that denim jumper, and I said, get thee behind me, thank you. I'm like, that's just horrid.
Sorry, that is not a good look for anyone.
Shaye Elliot (2:18)
I do wear denim overalls when I'm gardening.
Angela Reed (2:21)
I know you. That is not a denim jumper.
Shaye Elliot (2:23)
Okay.
Angela Reed (2:24)
I'm just saying. To our British listeners, we don't mean a denim sweater. We mean this shapeless thing.
That was popular in like 1986
Shaye Elliot (2:38)
Yeah. That was the year I was born.
Angela Reed (2:42)
Oh, brother. That was not the year I was born.
Shaye Elliot (2:48)
Well, listen, I was just telling Angela.
Angela Reed (2:50)
But speaking of years that somebody was born, it might have been. Go ahead.
Shaye Elliot (2:57)
Well, I was scrubbing through some of these comments to share with you guys today, and I ran across one that I'm failing to find now, but I'll look at it closer when we pull it up, she said she'd been listening to it. She's like, I love you guys, I've been listening since during COVID, when I started and I was 14 I was like, are we a thousand years old?
What?
Angela Reed (3:21)
That's amazing.
Shaye Elliot (3:23)
It was interesting.
We had an episode last season where we were talking about put it togetherness and older women and all this stuff. I had a cooking community call a few months ago and there was a woman in it. She was a grandmother and she was joining us. I would say the majority of cooking community members are around my age, somewhere between 30 and 50 She was older. She said, it's really strange when you get older, because you're usually the oldest person in the room.
You just look around and you're like, I'm the oldest person here. Just what a strange sensation that is. I was like, well, you're probably also the wisest. Hopefully. Laura Welling. Good things come with age. But yeah, here we are, season 30 How are you feeling? Summer's over. That's not the best thing for you.
Angela Reed (4:19)
No, it's not. We're recording here in late August and I'm still like, what's the UV?
SPEAKER_3 (4:31)
Finding the UV on my phone.
Angela Reed (4:33)
The UV on my phone.
SPEAKER_3 (4:34)
Yeah.
Shaye Elliot (4:36)
Yeah, we are August here. I think we've been preparing for the season because it's been super autumnal.
Because of the wildfires here in North Central Washington, the sky has been covered in smoke. I mean, it's been covered in smoke since the end of July.
Angela Reed (4:56)
So we had that early July where I'm like, what is it? Seasons of mist? That's what it is.
Shaye Elliot (5:02)
It feels like you're like, oh, okay, well, I guess we're done with sunshine. So everything's very muted, right? Very kind of dulled. It has that autumnal feel. And now here we are. We're actually...
