The busiest 24 hours in the NFL is finally over, and the Broncos made a flurry of moves. Here's everything you need to know about Broncos' cut day and practice today. More on that in just a second, but let's dive in to everything you need to know about all the moves the Broncos made. Let's start with this rookie shakeup that the Broncos had to their 53-man roster. The Broncos made a number of shocking moves to whittle down to their 53-man roster, and the biggest was cutting fifth round pick, Justin Joly. Joly didn't even get a snap as a member of the Denver Broncos before they waved him, and he becomes the highest drafted player that did not make the team as a rookie since Maurice Cloret in 2005 after he was waived as a third round pick. And a drafted rookie tight end made the roster ahead of Joly as Dallen Bentley, Mr. Irrelevant runner up, made the team as the fourth tight end along with Evan Ingram, Adam Troutman and Nate Adkins. And on Monday, Joly was claimed by the Miami Dolphins off of waivers officially ending his time with the Broncos before it really even started. Sean Payton said the Broncos would have wanted him back on the practice squad if he wasn't claimed. Broncos don't have to worry about that since he was claimed by Miami, two other drafted rookies also did not make the 53-man roster as Mr. Irrelevant Red Murdoch and seventh round pick Miles Scott got waived. Along with Alex Singleton and Justin Sternad, Karen Reed and Jordan Turner made the team at Inside Linebacker ahead of Murdoch and Terry in York. Unlike Joly, the Broncos were able to sign Murdoch and Miles Scott to their practice squad. Terry in York, though, did not come back on the Broncos practice squad. The toughest roster decision the Broncos had to make was the final decision that they made, which was choosing Tyler Badie as the Broncos' fourth running back over Jaleel McLaughlin and Cody Schrader. George Payton praised Jaleel after cutting him, saying, he's, quote, something really special. He was really important to this team, the passion, everything he brings. But Badie's versatility on offense and special teams ultimately won him the roster spot. That's something that George and Sean both talked about specifically with special teams. There were some other moves that the Broncos made that raised some eyebrows. Before I tell you about them, make sure to hit this video with a thumbs up. We appreciate it a lot. The Broncos decided to keep not one, not two, but three quarterbacks. Yes, Sam Ehlinger got a spot on the 53-man roster along with Bo Nix and Jared Stidham. Sean Payton said it became an easy decision. Midway through camp, George Payton said the team loves their quarterback room. End quote, Sam is a big part of this quarterback room. We didn't want to lose him and we felt we were going to lose him. He's too important to our team and that we didn't want to risk doing that. So boom, there you go. The head coach and the general manager made it pretty clear that they wanted Sam. He wasn't going anywhere. Broncos keep three quarterbacks. A lot of other roster news and notes that you need to know. Sean Payton, very pleased with the way the past 24 hours panned out with the Broncos. 53-man roster and their 17-man practice squad said, we're pleased with what transpired in the past 24 hours. So I know there's a lot of fans that are kind of freaking out over losing Justin Joly, initially over waving Red Murdoch, but then the Broncos got him back. But the Broncos are very pleased with the way that this roster panned out. The Broncos not only lost Justin Joly to waivers, they also lost cornerback Reese Taylor, who was also claimed by the Dolphins. So the Dolphins getting in the Broncos business, taking two of their players on waivers. The Broncos, on the other hand, did not claim anyone off waivers. This is not a surprise. Bad teams typically make all the waiver claims. Dolphins are pretty bad. The good teams don't make waiver claims. They're teams that lose players to the waivers. It's exactly what happened to your Denver Broncos. Lil Jordan Humphrey made the 53-man roster. That means Denver is keeping six wide receivers. The Broncos did not keep a long snapper on their 53-man roster. You're thinking, that's probably pretty important. They probably need a long snapper. Don't worry. They brought both to back to the practice squad. And they're going to elevate Mitchell Fraboni to the active or to the game day roster against the Chiefs. So they'll be all set there.
