This is Mornings with Mark Duffield on SENWA. Welcome back to the SENWA Studio Outer Adopter Stadium. Monday morning in Perth. It is nearly 18 degrees outside, building to a top 21 degrees later in the day. Paul Heath has joined me in the studio heater.

Paul Heath (1:30)

Get that one there. There we go.

Mark Duffield (1:32)

There we go. That'll help.

Paul Heath (1:33)

How are you?

Mark Duffield (1:33)

Got drowned out by Will's motorbike again. Yeah.

Paul Heath (1:36)

Jeez, that thing popped.

Mark Duffield (1:38)

It did, didn't it?

Paul Heath (1:40)

How are you?

Mark Duffield (1:41)

I'm good.

Paul Heath (1:41)

That's good. How was the weekend?

Mark Duffield (1:43)

Yeah, it was good. I went to Margaret River for a day or so on Friday into Saturday. I haven't been there for a while. It was lovely down there. Very lots of people. I looked up Margaret River's population on Google, and it's just over 7,000. I reckon there was 25,000 people there.

Paul Heath (2:01)

Did a head count, did you?

Mark Duffield (2:02)

On the weekend.

Just a farmer's guess. Just a farmer's guess.

Paul Heath (2:06)

Very good.

Not like the umpires and getting everyone to line up in the middle and doing the head count and stopping the game. Yeah, no, nothing like that. It's time for the Weekend Review thanks to IMR. I'm a small business insurance expert. It's called 1-3-IMR over the weekend, which was an interesting time to start at the second test. Got underway. Overcast conditions. There was 7 millilitres of grass on the wicket, and Scotty Boland was picked ahead of Nathan Lyon, and it was a pretty good pick, I would think.

Mark Duffield (2:33)

Boland in here.

SPEAKER_1 (2:33)

Mark Boland.

Mark Duffield (2:35)

It's always Boland dealing in his spell.

SPEAKER_5 (2:38)

And Mark will be so important.

Mark Duffield (2:40)

He's crucial to South Africa up top.

Paul Heath (2:43)

And Boland with his 10th delivery back in the team gets middle stumped, cartwheeling out of the ground. The prodiers are 1 for 12

SPEAKER_2 (2:51)

Up here, Boland delivers.

Mark Duffield (2:52)

Bendingham passed it.

SPEAKER_5 (2:53)

It has sonnage. He's gone. Boland 2 and 2 He's on a head trick.

SPEAKER_1 (2:58)

Brilliant stuff.

SPEAKER_5 (3:00)

Made Bendingham play on the off-stop line on thereabouts. Doesn't quite get forward enough. A feather through to Kerry. Would you believe it? Of course you believe it. If it's going to be anyone, it's going to be Boland.

Paul Heath (3:12)

It's funny with that.

I knew it had rained, so I sort of left my attention from the cricket. And then when I checked in with it later and I saw Boland had got the two wickets, I was like, what's the bet that they went one after the other? And then you look down and you see it just 8.4 and 8.5. So it was exactly that, like he's a freak. What have we got there? 20 tests, 84 wickets at 18

Mark Duffield (3:32)

Yeah.

Paul Heath (3:32)

Just unbelievable.

Mark Duffield (3:34)

It's the strike rate.

Paul Heath (3:36)

Yeah.

Mark Duffield (3:36)

It's 38 So I think from memory, Lily struck at around a ball every 50

Paul Heath (3:44)

Okay.

Mark Duffield (3:44)

And I haven't checked McGrath's, but I'm pretty sure it's over 40 So you got a guy that's striking quicker than two. You could argue that if you ranked Australian fast bowlers all time, that Lily and McGrath might be one and two.

And this guy who strikes more regularly than they do or they did, can't command a permanent position in the team. Now, that's both a credit to the calibre of the guys that are in there. Stark, Cummins and Hazelwood are all remarkable fast bowlers in their own right. But, jeez, you would have been tempted to find a way to get him in at some point.
