SAP Cranks Up Autonomous Enterprise w/New Joule Agents

Hello, my friends, welcome back to Cloud Wars Minute. SAP is having a big event in Las Vegas this week called Connect, and whereas their Sapphire event every year really seemed to their traditional IT audience, and they laid the technical foundation for their strategy. Connect, now in its second year, was brought about to focus on the LOB users, business users, non-tech users. And this year at Connect, SAP is getting ready to crank up its promise of Autonomous Enterprise with a lot of new Joule AI-powered agents and assistants that SAP believes will help customers be able to leverage the full power of the Autonomous Enterprise on an end-to-end basis, right? When this whole concept and the Autonomous Suite came out five months ago at Sapphire, it had some of those capabilities, but more it was initially done to be able to take care of individual LOB areas, functional areas. Now, the promise that SAP has with the Autonomous Enterprise is they're going to be able to push this now across the enterprise. So at Sapphire, they really laid the tech foundation, putting together the SAP Business Suite with the SAP Business Platform. They're now calling that the Autonomous Enterprise, and now at Connect, they've got a big number, a slew of AI agents and solutions that individually are going to get together, work autonomously, be able to interconnect things, make decisions, run end-to-end, working off the same data, same governance, same business processes.

I spoke with Eric Von Rosson, the CMO for the Autonomous Suite, and he said a big point that they're making here at Connect this week is that while there's been lots of talk, lots of churn in AI about where's the right place to start. It's a little bit of guesswork. You know, well, what about governance? Is this going to be safe? There's a little bit of concern about that. What if we're just burning tokens? Is it too expensive? That's been a concern. And certainly the more recent soap opera about, you know, let's have a big AI slow down, which I think is kind of silly.

What SAP is doing now with the Autonomous Enterprise and a lot of these new agents is they are using Signavio and Linux to be able to help people make the best decision, be able to map out exactly, you know, what processes to map, how to map those, what KPIs to put together with it. So they feel like this is going to be with the Autonomous Enterprise, not just the technology, but very, very strong guidance, best practices that customers will be able to use to put together full end-to-end solutions. The other part that I think is particularly exciting is also Van Rossum said that industry AI begins to move now into the mainstream here with this latest updates to the Autonomous Enterprise. They'll be showing at Connect. So more and more industry AI industry suites are going to be seen as more and more valuable to customers. And SAP feels like it connect with some of the new things they're putting out in the next wave of innovations coming from SAP with the Autonomous Enterprise are going to really flesh out what's possible in industries.
