Today's episode is presented by Never After Dark, in theaters this Friday, September 25th from Magnolia Pictures. A wandering medium spends her life guiding restless spirits out of the world of the living, accompanied by her constant companion, her dead sister. Summoned to exercise a spirit from an isolated country house by the new owner, she comes face to face with a grotesque apparition, with powers that defy her own experience. For the first time, her greatest adversary is not the supernatural, but the living. Director David Boyle spends a uniquely terrifying and hauntingly atmospheric ghost story that Stephen King calls amazing and haunting.

End of All Hope End of All Hope End of All Hope End of All Hope End of All Hope Are you serious?

Mike Lenhart (2:19)

Yes. How were we to know?

Ariel Hack (2:23)

He said he was communicating with you.

Mike Lenhart (2:25)

Sure, yeah.

I mean, he was communicating with us, but he never said he was a ranger. He just said he was with a group of survivors.

Ariel Hack (2:32)

A group of survivors that you fired at first?

Mike Lenhart (2:35)

In a defensive manner.

Ariel Hack (2:37)

You weren't being attacked.

Mike Lenhart (2:39)

We couldn't be sure. They showed up with weapons. Yeah, but- Mia, think about it. Why the hell would we attack one of our own? We knew there were multiple rangers in the area that were helping out in certain towns across Wyoming and Colorado, some of which were even helping local authorities and firefighters. Moreover, why the hell would we fight with them and then simultaneously ask you and your party to join us?

Hmm.

Ariel Hack (3:08)

That was true.

Mike Lenhart (3:09)

Right.

Ariel Hack (3:13)

Okay, fine. But did you know?

Mike Lenhart (3:15)

What?

Ariel Hack (3:16)

Did you know about him being a ranger before he took over?

Mike Lenhart (3:21)

He might have mentioned it.

But none of us believed him.

Hayden may have been a ranger, but the jury is still out. Yes, we made the mistake of firing first. Something that we repeated with your group. But like with your group, we just didn't know at the time. Okay? There weren't a lot of us. We had to be careful. And if Hayden didn't go all crazy on us after the accident, then maybe, like with your group, we could have made things work. But there was a rage in him. We're not bad people, Mia. I'm not a bad person.

Ariel Hack (4:05)

Maybe just a little trigger happy.

Mike Lenhart (4:08)

Maybe that's true. But when the local authorities, firefighters and military all left, there was no one else for these people.

Ariel Hack (4:17)

Emotion to the door, to the rest of the base, presumably.

Mike Lenhart (4:21)

We had to protect them.

Ariel Hack (4:23)

But maybe Hayden felt the same way about the people he was with.

Mike Lenhart (4:27)

I'm sure he did.

Ariel Hack (4:29)

But you don't believe he's telling the truth.

Mike Lenhart (4:30)

In all honesty, no. But I can't say for certain that it's not true. The guy was on the radio, on our frequency. I've never seen him around, but there are a lot of national parks up here. He could have been located in any one of them when the distress call went out.

Things happened so quickly, fell apart, so fast.

Ariel Hack (4:55)

And I'm assuming he never told you what Forrest you was working in.

Mike Lenhart (5:01)

He hasn't gotten too personal since the incident. Can you tell you?

Ariel Hack (5:06)

No. But I didn't ask.

Mike Lenhart (5:07)

But you believe him. That's why he came in here all hot.

Ariel Hack (5:12)

I kind of felt bad now. I didn't know either of these guys that well and I really didn't care to. I only cared about one thing, getting out and getting back to Chris.
