S6 : Ep 35 : The Valkyries - Everything You Need To Know Before ACOTAR 6

Kristina (0:00)

Hello, Book Festies. If you enjoy listening to our podcast, then we're gonna go ahead and assume you love a good, long-form, nerdy deep dive into your favorite fantasy books just as much as we do. And if that is the case, we have another podcast we think you're going to love. It is called Dragons in the Details.

Anna (0:17)

That's right. Hosted by friends Abby and Ronnie, Dragons in the Details is all about the world of Sarah J. Maas. They're digging into the characters, the lore, the wild fan theories, and all of those tiny details that can completely change the way you look at the story.

Kristina (0:32)

Yes. And similar to what we do here, this isn't a chapter by chapter recap. Each episode focuses on a specific topic or character and really dives in with a perfect balance of research and humor and obviously a few tangents along the way.

Anna (0:44)

It really feels like sitting down with your friends and obsessing over your latest romantic read, which as we all know is very much our favorite kind of conversation over here on our podcast. It is.

Kristina (0:55)

It is. So whether you're revisiting your favorite really great characters, looking to spiral over some theories, or getting ready for all the new Sarah J Maas releases coming this fall, Abby and Ronnie have got you covered.

Anna (1:05)

That's right. You can find dragons in the details wherever you listen to podcasts.

Kristina (1:10)

Welcome to Flights of Fantasy, your romantic podcast book club. I'm Kristina joined by my book besties, Kim and Anna. And together we're diving into the characters, theories, lore, and magic behind all your favorite fantasy romance books.

Anna (1:30)

Hello, listeners. We are so excited to bring you a very special episode today, straight from our Patreon. Now, for those of you who aren't familiar, over on Patreon, we have a segment called Mass Masterclass, where we dive into all things Sarah J. Mass. Characters, lore, theories, the multiverse, possible crossovers, you name it, we've talked about it.

We definitely have at this point.

Kristina (1:56)

With the announcement of Acotar 6, specifically the subtitles, the Valkyrie Cycles, Movements 1, 2, and 3, oh God, the way she rocked her role with that, we immediately knew that this was one Mass Masterclass episode we needed to bring over to Main Feed.

Anna (2:09)

Absolutely. In this Mass Masterclass, we deep dive into everything we know about the Valkyries from the books. But we also take you outside of the Massverse into the real-world mythology and lore surrounding the Valkyries with a few theories and spirals along the way, of course, because it's us. Hello.

And with all of us officially prepping for Acotar 6, this just felt like the one episode that everyone needed to hear.

Kristina (2:37)

Absolutely. Yes, 100 percent. And if you enjoy it, there is so much more where this came from in our Mass Masterclass back catalog over on Patreon, hours of it. Plus, when Acotar 6 releases, we'll be bringing back our chapter chats, our read-alongs where we read about 10-ish chapters at a time, stop, record all of our thoughts and theories in real time without reading ahead. This is our Super Bowl. This is what we've been prepping for. You're going to get our real time reactions as we go. So you get to spiral right along with us as we experience the book for the first time. It's so exciting. We can't wait to see you guys in chapter chats.

Anna (3:14)

Oh my gosh. It's honestly probably our patron's favorite part about being a part of our Patreon family.

It was so much fun to do the chapter chats for Crescent City 3 altogether. Yes. So we cannot wait to do it again for Acotar 6 We've got a little hotel room we rented. We're going to read and record all day and then release them for you guys. It's going to be a blast. So we hope you enjoy this little peek into our special Patreon segment. And without further ado, here is our Mass Masterclass deep dive on the Valkyries.

Kristina (3:50)

Hello, book besties. We're so excited to be here today in class. Oh my goodness. We are back with another Mass Masterclass. Today, we are going to be focusing on the Valkyries. This is a long time coming. All right, everybody. We're going to break down everything we know about the Valkyries from A Court of Silver Flames. We're pulling quotes from the book. We're breaking down what they might tell us about the history, where our story could be headed. We're really excited about this one. And we're also going to step outside of Acotar a little bit, because as you're PhDs, we must give you the full picture. And we are going to look at some real world Valkyrie mythology, including Norse mythology. Apologies already ahead of time for my pronunciations on that section.
