Kill James Bond!

August 7, 2026

Hello Trainmaster. It's time to talk about the taking of pelham 123 for the first ever time. Despite being rudderless without our fearless leader November Kelly, we are ably joined by her surviving No Gods No Mayors cohosts, Mattie Lubchansky and Riley Quinn!
Speakers: Riley Quinn, Devon, Abigail Thorn, Alice Caldwell-Kelly, Mattie Lubchansky

Topics: Film Reviews, TV & Film

**Riley Quinn** (0:00)
Listen, Train Master, your locomotive has been hijacked by a group of heavily armed men. It what?

**Devon** (0:27)
Wugwana Lekum, and welcome to yet another episode of Kill James Bond! I'm Devon, I'm joined as ever by my friend Abigail Thorn, Cowabunga? And no November Kelly. It's weird today. I'm afraid our fearless leader has been laying low yet again.
She's caught tuberculosis from the ghost of Gavrilo Princip at a Czech military hospital while engaged in a disco Elysium-themed live-action role-playing event.

**Riley Quinn** (0:53)
Six, seven.

**Devon** (0:56)
But fortunately, we too don't have to muddle on alone. We are joined to sit shiver by two of the only people who could possibly understand the depths of our bereavement.
Please join me in welcoming the two surviving hosts of No Gods No Mayors.

**Abigail Thorn** (1:10)
Riley Quinn and Mattie Lubchansky.

**Riley Quinn** (1:12)
That's right.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (1:12)
Do we have names?

**Devon** (1:13)
They fucking know.

**Riley Quinn** (1:14)
Okay. I don't know.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (1:15)
No. I was waiting for Mattie to go first.

**Devon** (1:18)
No, that's fair enough.

**Riley Quinn** (1:19)
Yeah.

**Mattie Lubchansky** (1:19)
Are you saying sitting shiver because it's Jewish-coded because it's a New York movie or because I'm here? That's just my question.

**Devon** (1:26)
I think it's funny to imagine that we're shitting shiver over like-

**Riley Quinn** (1:29)
Shitting shiver?

**Devon** (1:29)
Shitting shiver.

**Abigail Thorn** (1:30)
We're shitting shiver?

**Mattie Lubchansky** (1:31)
What?

**Devon** (1:32)
We're all getting together on webcam to sit shiver.

**Abigail Thorn** (1:35)
Anyway, welcome to Kill Mayors No Bond. That's right.

**Mattie Lubchansky** (1:40)
November Kill Bond. Remember when the episode is over for a sense of completion for the shiver to go outside and walk in a circle around the building that you're in, just to sort of get some closure.

**Abigail Thorn** (1:51)
I do that after every podcast.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (1:52)
I've always heard that the best way to sit shiver is to go to work and do your job.

**Devon** (1:58)
Yes, absolutely.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (2:00)
That's the tradition. Traditionally, it's supposed to be a time of working and reflecting on a film.

**Riley Quinn** (2:06)
It's unreflected on emails, yeah.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (2:08)
Yes.

**Devon** (2:08)
And what a film we have to reflect on, friends. This is the first ever time that we've recorded an episode about the movie, The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3
Yep. How do we all feel about this movie when we saw it the first time?

**Abigail Thorn** (2:24)
When I saw it for the first time six weeks ago?
Listeners, I owe you an apology here because the thing about me, listeners, is I'm a psycho and I maintain a ruthlessly clean desktop on my computer at all times. So basically, as soon as we finish the podcast, I upload the file into the shared Google Drive and then delete everything, just wipe everything. And the upload failed and then there was no way to get it back. It's the first time that's happened. But it's because I'm just OCD about my computer.

**Devon** (2:54)
Something to find out that you've been out under a sword of Damocles the entire time when it finally hits.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (3:00)
Sometimes I wonder, like, could you... Because in our industry, the terror of the corrupted file, the failed upload, whatever, is always there.

**Devon** (3:09)
It's like the black dog for podcasting.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (3:12)
Could it be possible to, like, mix down everything else and then just try and say what you think you might have said in the gaps?

**Devon** (3:21)
I'd wait that up so briefly, but I thought it would be funnier to have a lost episode.

**Mattie Lubchansky** (3:25)
Racing my own ghost in Mario Kart. Yeah. That was simply you deleting all the files on your computer, Abi. That was simply you being inhabited by the Mertaculus, the spirit of it.
It was piloting your body, making you do that, because it knew that this is such a municipal movie that you needed some municipal guests. Exactly, yes.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (3:46)
And also that what you're doing really is us a favor, because you are, I usually watch this movie on about an annual clock, and you're giving me an excuse to double it up, or as I call it, the taking of Pelham 246

**Riley Quinn** (4:02)
Hey, hey, wow.

**Alice Caldwell-Kelly** (4:05)
This and Three Days of the Condor, my annual rewatches.

**Devon** (4:09)
Perfect movies.

**Abigail Thorn** (4:10)
But listeners, we are in 1970s New York City. It looks like shit.
Mom Darnie is master of Manhattan's subways at battlefields. And we're in a time when everyone dresses weird, half the carpet in the atmosphere hasn't been emitted yet, but there's trash in the streets.
