This is Reception Perception, The Show. Now, James Koh and Matt Harmon.

Okay, let's talk about some interesting matchups here going into week number three. I'm gonna throw some out here. You tell me if it's interesting to you or how you might see this one going down. I wanna start there in New York, the Jets. They're taking on Detroit. Garrett Wilson, I think, has had a solid season. I don't think he's had a breakout game yet, but man, this is lining up to be a really great game, potentially, for Garrett Wilson, as Detroit has given up the most receptions and the most yards to wide receivers thus far.

Matt Harmon (0:36)

Totally. I think this is a really good spot. By the way, the Jets are one of the most improved offenses in the NFL. I talk about my offensive efficiency score. It was just a Frankenstein blend of all the metrics I really like. They're up 14 spots.

Not like they're one of the best offenses in the league, but they're up 30th in 2025 to 16th so far this year. Their pass rate over expected and their plays per game have also shot way up 32nd to 14th and pass rate over expected, 23rd to 6th in plays per game. Listen, shout out to Frank Reich. He's done some pretty cool stuff. And we talked about this Jets team is having some real receiving talent, even with rookie Omar Cooper Jr. on IR. They have a couple of interesting tight ends and AD. Mitchell has played well. AD. Mitchell's another guy that he's easy to make fun of and he's not a perfect player. He's a mistake prone, but he definitely can separate against man and press coverage. And they've got him working on that vertical stem at this point. So I think this offense, Gina and Geno's like throwing the football downfield. Their offensive line is very good. Breece Hall is good. Just there's a lot to like about the Jets offense. And I think Frank Reich has done some cool, creative stuff with heavy personnel, which is also way up for them. They were 29th in heavy personnel stuff in 2025, 16th this year, their under center rate is up.

Yeah, they just look like an improved offense schematically, results wise, and they're going against the Lions this week. And the Lions are, they're a carnival team. Their defense is going to be giving it up a lot. This is one of those games that from a fantasy standpoint, like if you're hurting at the receiver position, I would even consider like an AD Mitchell as a flyer in this game. He got like 12 targets last week. I mean, Gino is giving him chances.

James Koh (2:19)

I love it. Absolutely love it. Rashid Rice, Xavier Worthy in Kansas City. They're taking on Miami, who may have the worst defense in the NFL. Miami gives up the most EPA per pass attempt.

Matt Harmon (2:32)

Yes, they do. Their defense is abysmal. Harmful.

I mean, the practice reports where they'd have joint practices with other teams is like, everybody looks like the best team in football when they do have a joint practice against the Dolphins. Brock Purdy was pretty much flawless in week two. So hard to think of a better defensive spot than against the Miami Dolphins for this team. I don't think Rice has looked great so far. I wrote about him for the charting notebook this week. Predictably, obviously, he's actually not beating man coverage at all. He has a 7% success rate versus man coverage in week two. Perfect. He's not beating man coverage at all, and his success rate versus zone is also really, really down. He looks like a player who rehabbed an injury in jail or rehabbed from a surgery in jail. He doesn't look 100% right.

I'm not going to completely disregard the fact that he could be better in the second half of the season. But even by the way, he still had a couple of moments. He's just not going to get the volume that he used to. But against the Dolphins, could he break a play? Definitely. Worthy, they've gotten him way more involved in the quick passes. I mean, when you look at the quick passes, under five air yards for the Kansas City Chiefs, it goes 11 Kenneth Walker, which is the right answer to this question really is like Kenneth Walker is going to smoke this Dolphins team. Travis Kelsey at eight, looking great, looking younger, looking like he's, I joked on Twitter that he's in wedding shape still, got in shape for his wedding and he's still looking trim and nice there. He's got eight of those passes. Xavier Worthy has six, Rashi Rice has two. I mean, the quick passes are no longer going to Rice. They're kind of being spread out worthy as well. And I mean, Worthy is worthy. He's not a perfect player, but yeah, could he get some designer stuff in this game? I mean, I'm really still just like, God, we need the Chiefs need to trade for Brian Thomas or Marvin Harrison, but they probably won't.
