Welcome back to the SENWA studio. We're out here at Optus Stadium on this Tuesday morning in Perth. It's a bit showy outside, but it's 16 degrees, building to a top of 19 later in the day. Time to talk some WAFL. We've got East Perth coach Ross McQueen on the line ready to chat. Ross, welcome.

**Ross McQueen** (1:20)
Yeah, thanks, Duff. Nice to be chatting.

**Mark Duffield** (1:22)
Mate, 22-point winners over East Fremantle at the weekend. A good win and a very important win as far as your finals chances go.

**Ross McQueen** (1:29)
Very much so. Yeah, it was a game we... Well, every game is important, but yeah, a game we had to try and win. And yeah, I thought for a fair chunk of the game, we weren't too bad. And yeah, it was not... been East Fremantle. I think they beat us... Well, I know they did earlier in the year in every game last year, even though we made the grand final. So it was nice to find some form against them.

**Mark Duffield** (1:50)
What was the... what's been the sticking point playing the Sharks previously, and what were you able to change?

**Ross McQueen** (1:57)
I don't know. It might have been just Bill. I don't know.
I think their contest is really strong. Like I... and I know they're missing a couple of their senior players around that area of the ground, but their clearance is very strong and their ability to win the ground ball has always kept them, you know, really competitive and strong in games. And if you don't convert your opportunities, because they're always at it, they're always going to get a chance. So I thought we were able to match them a bit better in that area this week, and not perfect, but a bit better. And when we got the ball in the front half, in particular earlier, I thought we had some real threats there, and we hit the scoreboard in the first three quarters. But unfortunately, last quarter, we went missing a bit.

**Mark Duffield** (2:39)
So it was down at the Goodgrocer Park, wasn't it, down there at East Fremantle? That was where the game was played. How do you find it as a venue? Because obviously, it's one of the more talked about venues.
In the WAFL, for fencing reasons mainly.

**Ross McQueen** (2:54)
Yeah, I actually quite like it, to be honest. But it doesn't make any difference to me. Well, if we get a nice little office where we can coach from, if you like, and the changing rooms are all fresh and clean and things like that. So I don't know how they could have changed things or how that affects them from day to day, from week to week. And then after the game, we all go into the nice bar there. I think it's called Carnaby's. We mingle with East Fremantle boys. So I don't mind it.
Some of our players are pretty sore, I think, coming off the ground. So whether it's just that time of year, we haven't had any rain, it's just, it's hard. But I don't mind it. And like I said, it has a nice feel about it. You look around the ground and it seems to be people just sitting around. They must come and go. And it's not bad.

**Mark Duffield** (3:37)
You got a significant game out of Liam Tedesco, 26 disposals and two goals. Tell us about his input to the victory.

**Ross McQueen** (3:44)
Yeah, no, very good Liam. He's had to shoulder a fair bit of responsibility with the injuries that we've had during the year. And he was one of those. He didn't start training till middle of February, I think.
