Yes, I like that. I like that intro to this next segment. It is, of course, The Next Vintage, brought to us by Forrester Estate, family-owned premium Margaret River Wine. Paul Heath, joining me in the studio.

**Paul Heath** (1:26)
Duff. Heata, welcome. Thank you. Good to be here. Would you like to take the new ball in The Next Vintage today?

**Mark Duffield** (1:31)
I will. So I'm gonna...
I'm not breaking the rules, but I reckon I'm bending them a bit here. This guy is still very much a player young in his career. He's 22 years old, though, but he is a West Aussie boy. He's a first-round draft pick. He is the son of a West Australian legend. Ed Allen, I think, is emerging as a real key figure in the second half of the season resurgent at Collingwood. And against Adelaide at the weekend, he tagged Jordan Dawson. He did a great job on that sort of front, but then he also had massive impact himself late in the game. So he kicked two goals, won 17 disposals, 487 metres gained, six inside 57 score involvements. He's emerging as one of the more improved players in the competition over the back half of the season.

**Paul Heath** (2:20)
It's been really consistent, but he feels like he's caught fire recently, hasn't he?

**Mark Duffield** (2:24)
Yeah.

**Paul Heath** (2:25)
And especially on the weekend even, he just had that period where the ball just kept getting into his hands and he was able to do great things for the Pys.

**Mark Duffield** (2:32)
In the space of the season, he's gone from fringe to solid to Rising Star, I reckon.

**Paul Heath** (2:38)
Yeah. And the watch on him may be coming back to WA is out the door now, isn't it? Because there's no way that the Pys would let him out of their sights.

**Mark Duffield** (2:45)
Well, yeah, but apparently there's no contract talks yet. So watch this.

**Paul Heath** (2:50)
Is he not old enough? Is that what the goal is there?

**Mark Duffield** (2:52)
Well, hasn't reached the age threshold yet.

**Paul Heath** (2:56)
Maybe once you're over 30, we'll talk to you about the next contract.
Well, on the next Vintage Stuff, it is like the long running bit, of course, where I've tried to inject Murphy Reid every week into it. And this week he's got a medal around his neck after winning his first Glendening Alan medal on the weekend. So it feels like a pretty good time to welcome Murphy Reid back to the next Vintage. He had a great game on the weekend. Continued to show all those positive points that we love about his game. Just that delivery inside 50 to Dudley, the sort of check side and just didn't have to quicken up or slow down. It was just the perfect kick. But he ended up on the weekend having 26 disposals, four marks. He kicked a goal. He was involved in score chains eight times as well. He just keeps on building and building. He's just such an impressive player for a second year player and just a worthy Glenn Denning Allen Medalist on the weekend.

**Mark Duffield** (3:49)
Yep. I reckon they had five to pick from for the Glenn Denning Allen Medal, I reckon, free man. And of course, Harley Reid played a very good game for West Coast as well. So throw him into that whole mix, although it's hard to award it to a player in a team that got beaten by 70 points.
But Reid, Matt Johnson was super.

**Paul Heath** (4:10)
It was great.

**Mark Duffield** (4:11)
You know, Sarong, Brayshaw, Amis, all played significant games. So I've got to do, in the stuff I do for Musbuzz on Channel 10, I've got to do a three, two, one. And free man was just turning into a nightmare every week, because you've got six players and you've got to get back to three and then put them in order. And it's very tough.
