Comes out to Jackson, forces Switkowski and takes the goal. A free kick, it spills to Switkowski, and kicks the goal. Front and center.

SPEAKER_4 (1:11)

Little shimmy run by Sherry, and he keeps it inside towards Switkowski. He made the goal on par with work, but it's there. They get their first Fremantle.

SPEAKER_5 (1:22)

Long ball inside, 50 Tracy tried to crash the pack.

SPEAKER_4 (1:26)

Fell to Switkowski, who curls it through.

SPEAKER_5 (1:29)

Dockers on the board.

SPEAKER_4 (1:30)

The center of the ball for Switkowski is good. On the runway, he guides it through.

SPEAKER_5 (1:38)

Second goal for Switkowski. The Frederick, now Reed, runs to 52, Switkowski.

So Switkowski up against the fence, 40 meters out, right of your radio dial. It's a good looking kick. He swept the middle and he has kicked three.

SPEAKER_3 (1:54)

Jackson is there. Here's Switkowski goals.

It was a fumble and a bumble and no one wanted to take clean possessions. Hardeman's kick.

SPEAKER_5 (2:04)

Switkowski telegraphed it like a tarot card reader.

Mark Duffield (2:08)

Took one bounce, surged inside Ford 50

SPEAKER_3 (2:10)

Vacant goal square made them pay.

SPEAKER_5 (2:13)

Switkowski from 45 meters out, leans back on it, kicks the goal.

Mark Duffield (2:17)

Great goal.

SPEAKER_5 (2:18)

They are running hot, the Dockers. And they are telling the competition what they are about tonight.

Mark Duffield (2:30)

Welcome back to the SNWA studio out here at Optus Stadium. It's time to talk. Friday night preliminary final at the SCG. And we've got Sam Switkowski with us. Sam, welcome.

Sam Switkowski (2:40)

Thanks for having me.

Mark Duffield (2:42)

Everyone says you should approach every game like it's your last.

Every game could be your last now. How are you feeling about it?

Sam Switkowski (2:49)

Yeah, it's a bit surreal when you put it that way. But something I've been actually trying to do all year, and I spoke about it when I did my retirement speech of having a bit of a theme of the year of loss.

But yeah, just making the most of every opportunity now that I get to walk out in the field. Literally now don't know when will be my last, or it's going to be within the next couple of weeks, but whether it's this week or next week, I'm not sure. But no, it's an exciting position that we're in, and I'm really looking forward to the challenge we've got ahead of us.

Mark Duffield (3:18)

Did you notice a different feeling between the qualifying final and the semi-final? Because the qualifying final, you're always going to get another lick of the ice cream, but the semi-final was definitely sudden death. Did you feel differently going into the game?

Sam Switkowski (3:31)

Yeah, I think, yeah, absolutely. There's some differences. I think you'd be lying if you said there wasn't. Definitely was incredibly locked into both games, and not something where my mind wanders in-game. But definitely, you know, those things when you drive into the venue and those sort of moments, you sometimes think more for myself. I thought, well, this potentially could be the last and things like that. And I might have had one when Geelong hit the lead in that third quarter.

But nah, yeah, it's just feel incredibly grateful and happy that we're still alive and ready to get into this week.

Mark Duffield (4:12)

The experience of playing in front of that Optus Stadium crowd on Friday night, 59,000, you got warfy time. They were really loud. What was that like?

Sam Switkowski (4:21)

Yeah, it's hard to put into words. It's just so special in so many ways. Clearly, just the atmosphere is incredible. The noise, I love how, I hope it intimidates the opposition.
