This is Crime House.

Over the week, my mother kept calling me, making sure to remind me to eat my ramen noodles.
I was short on cash then, waiting for my first paycheck. I never told her that I ate it. I suspected then that I had been poisoned. And after doing some Googling, I believed it was cyanide.
SPEAKER_1 (0:28)
I'm not okay.

SPEAKER_2 (1:00)
Hi.
SPEAKER_1 (1:01)
Welcome back to Crimes Of Reddit. I have a question. Are you a morning person?
SPEAKER_2 (1:05)
No.
SPEAKER_1 (1:06)
Okay.
SPEAKER_2 (1:07)
Really not.
SPEAKER_1 (1:07)
Are you a night person?
SPEAKER_2 (1:08)
Yes.
SPEAKER_1 (1:09)
Okay. Well, actually I should know that because you were working last night at like 11 p.m. Yeah, like I come alive in the night, but this is actually getting up to do this has been really good for me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_2 (1:19)
It's like pushing me to get out of bed before 8 a.m. For a reason to wake up in the morning. Exactly, no. I'm really not a morning person, are you?
SPEAKER_1 (1:25)
I'm a sleep person. I'm the best when I'm asleep. Yeah, and then I go through ebbs and flows. I really enjoy a slow morning like a really quiet.
No one's around.
SPEAKER_2 (1:36)
Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_1 (1:36)
Sun's coming up a couple of hours before you have to do work.
SPEAKER_2 (1:40)
I love that.
SPEAKER_1 (1:41)
But today I need a caffeine drip.
SPEAKER_2 (1:42)
Yep.
SPEAKER_1 (1:43)
Injected into my veins, which I feel like is very apropos for the theme for today's episode.
SPEAKER_2 (1:49)
A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_1 (1:50)
Because it's poisoning. Stories where people have been poisoned by, in a lot of the cases, well, the stories at least that I have, by the last person they would ever suspect.
SPEAKER_2 (2:02)
Well, think about how intimate poisoning is, how close you have to be to someone, and you need to have access to the things they're ingesting in their home, usually. So, it's usually pretty close.
SPEAKER_1 (2:14)
And I don't know the specific stats, but a lot of poisoners are women.
And that is the case. Actually, it's the case in one of my stories. It's not the case in my first story.
SPEAKER_2 (2:30)
Well, then, I'm excited to hear it, because you're right. Most of the poisoning stories you hear about or the ones that become documentaries, it's women.
SPEAKER_1 (2:37)
Yeah. I do love the idea of growing poisonous plants in my backyard.
SPEAKER_2 (2:42)
Well, yeah, because it's spooky.
SPEAKER_1 (2:43)
Not to use them, but just, yeah, to, just to, to...
SPEAKER_2 (2:47)
Just to add to your lore.
SPEAKER_1 (2:48)
Yeah.
SPEAKER_2 (2:48)
I love that.
SPEAKER_1 (2:49)
To be the spooky girl that I am.
SPEAKER_2 (2:50)
Yep.
SPEAKER_1 (2:51)
Yeah. So today, like we said, we have stories all about poisonings found on Reddit, shared by people just like you out there.
Hopefully, most people aren't poisoned, but if you have been, you can also share your stories on our sub-Reddit, Crimes Of Pod, and maybe we'll feature it in a future episode. I don't know the story you have picked out, so I'll be reacting blind and then you'll be reacting blind to the stories that I have.
SPEAKER_2 (3:16)
That's right. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_1 (3:18)
Shall we do it?
SPEAKER_2 (3:18)
Let's do it.
SPEAKER_1 (3:24)
Before we get into today's stories, I do want to give a content warning that there are mentions of non-consensual drugging and sexual coercion in this episode. This is called, My Brother, 18 Male, Has Been Poisoning My Girlfriend, 24 Female, For The Past Three Years.
Yep. Okay. So this was originally posted in August of 2019, and then we do have an update from as recent as 2025
SPEAKER_2 (3:56)
Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_1 (3:56)
Yeah. As context, my girlfriend has always been allergic to lactose, very severely to the point where if she had any traces in her food, she would basically shit herself on the spot ever since she was a kid.
SPEAKER_2 (4:08)
Bummer.
SPEAKER_1 (4:08)
Such a bummer. Cheese is so good.
SPEAKER_2 (4:12)
The best.
SPEAKER_1 (4:12)
My brother and I have always been on good terms and always hung out together until three years ago when I met my girlfriend. He started getting more distant and mean towards me, talking about how my girlfriend was ruining our broship and taking me away from our family and him. I told him he was crazy and I didn't think too much of it until recently.
