Nottie was first off the rank this morning, saying, Duff, two questions. What does Freo need to do to not follow in the same footsteps as the Crows' finals exit last year, after a dominant home and away season?

I think they're more ready than the Crows were last year. That's the first thing I would say. Obviously, a lot hinges on the first final.
You go from home, and this is more mental than physical, people. Like everyone talks about finals footy being different. It ain't that different. If you're playing the number of big games, the Friday night games against opponents like Hawthorne as Fremantle played early in the year, Geelong as they played just recently, Sydney as they played just recently, and Adelaide as they will play before the end of the season, then Fremantle will be absolutely attuned to high intensity footy that they will cop in the finals. It's more the mental adjustment that you have to get your head around. So make that adjustment. And I think the fact that they found a lot of different ways to win, the fact that they are very sound defensively, and the fact that they have a lot of different players that can stand up and shift the needle for them in games, that should hold them in good stead. That said, they may run into Brisbane in that first final, and Brisbane, I would argue, is at the very least the number two seed at the moment. I think they're coming and coming past the others.

Yeah, I think even I remember last year when Brisbane were maybe a little bit slow out of the blocks. He just said, this is what they're doing. They're figuring it out. They're getting back to there, and then they just hit a run and away they go. Seemingly, they're doing it again this year, Brisbane.

The second part of Nottie's question was, why do the Eagles not appear to be involved in the USA or Irish Combine?

It's a good question, but I would argue I don't mind teams going, you know what, we're not using resources on that. We're going to try and make sure we nailed the local draft and the local talent pool.
That's where the bulk of the players come from, and yeah, you might pick up a player or two out of Ireland, you might pick up a player every now and again out of the United States. But the core of your player group comes from the local market. So make sure you nail that and you won't go too far wrong.

Dave replying to Scotty Waters when he was on earlier, just saying you just argued with yourself, Scott. He puts the umpires on high alert, talking about Harley Reid. So he's umpire differently. Umpires should be professional enough to pay them when they are there consistently. That's the thing though, with what Dave's saying at the end, there is the consistency of the umpiring.
Because we saw Harley get a fine from Friday night. But I would say probably the worst of the things that Harley did, trying to drop a knee on Luke Ryan, just without any, not even a caution or it got looked at or anything like that. And that was plain and clear as day. What he was trying to do there.
