Donny (0:00)

What are the top things they should be doing in terms of getting to start good financial habits?

Martin Lewis (0:05)

You understand your finances, you will have a better financial life and more comfortable life. These are tariffs for people who can understand and accept the volatility.

Dan (0:13)

Our credit lenders are gonna look at me having lots of credit with all sorts of different lenders and this make me seem like a bit of a risky proposition.

Martin Lewis (0:19)

Hello and welcome to this, the cunningly named The Martin Lewis Podcast. I do wonder what that's gonna be about. And this is our Question Time episode where you are asquires, extremely savvy questioners. Get to ask me your questions on absolutely anything and everything, open brackets within reason, close brackets. And this week, you ask me, what should every teenager know about money? Such an important question. It's a big answer, well worth a listen, whether you're a teenager or an adult too. Then, can my son claim back taxi shouldn't have paid on his summer job? Are the Octopus Agile and Tracker Tariffs still worth it in these times of huge volatility? Can you stooze with other 0% finance offers, not just credit cards? Then we've got a great council tax re-banding success, and we finish the pod today with an announcement of why Question Time will never quite be the same again. Play the theme tune.

Hello and welcome to our Question Time edition of the podcast. This is the one way you get to ask me questions on anything and everything. Let's all say it together. Open brackets, within reason, close brackets. Matt, do you think anybody at home actually says it?

Donny (1:48)

I'm sure someone does, yeah.

Martin Lewis (1:49)

You've got to say it with us. And you've already heard him, but joining me today is the one, the only, the curator of Questions himself, Professor Dr Matthew Burnham Esquire.

Matthew Burnham (2:03)

Where's my surrogate?

Martin Lewis (2:05)

I've had your nightgown taken off.

Matthew Burnham (2:06)

Why?

Martin Lewis (2:07)

Because I've had another complaint.

Matthew Burnham (2:09)

Every week, every week, I do something. Go on, what's this week's?

Martin Lewis (2:12)

Okay, this week, there is only one person higher up in the hierarchy for complaints than GDPR.

Google Docs professional Rosie. Who is that? Do you know?

Matthew Burnham (2:24)

It's not you.

Martin Lewis (2:25)

It's not me. Way more important than me, right up there.

Matthew Burnham (2:28)

Is it?

Martin Lewis (2:30)

Very regular listener.

Matthew Burnham (2:31)

Sapphire, by any chance?

Martin Lewis (2:32)

It is my daughter Sapphire, indeed, who loves, loves the Question Time Podcast. Is a, is a Matt Burnham fan.

Matthew Burnham (2:41)

Thank you very much.

Martin Lewis (2:42)

I have to tell you.

Matthew Burnham (2:43)

Thank you, Sapphire. Thank you.

Martin Lewis (2:44)

But is an even bigger fan of Daddy.

Matthew Burnham (2:46)

Obviously.

Martin Lewis (2:47)

Obviously, because I'm her daddy.

Matthew Burnham (2:49)

So what did I do to her?

Martin Lewis (2:50)

She listened to last week's, the accent question at the end.

Matthew Burnham (2:54)

Oh yeah.

Martin Lewis (2:55)

She thought you were a little bit unfair of me. She said, it's, you're not an accent professional. I think he was judging you on too harsh a level.

And so I just felt that this should be reflected in the podcast this week. Okay.

Matthew Burnham (3:10)

I would come back to that and say, maybe I've just got really high standards for my accent impression.

Martin Lewis (3:15)

Maybe you do. Maybe you, I don't know, you live in a world where people are just flicking and flacking from different accents all the time. Well. And your ears are accustomed to it.

Matthew Burnham (3:23)

Maybe I do. Also, my parents are quite brummy. And most of my families as well. Obviously, I don't have the strongest brummy accent in the world.

So when I go and see them, it does flick back to a bit of a brummy accent, and then people do comment, you know.

Martin Lewis (3:37)

I was also reminded that I should have done my sort of generic AI type American accent, but I'm not going to do that today. I'm saving it.

Matthew Burnham (3:42)

We've all heard on the podcast before. Yeah, okay.

Martin Lewis (3:44)

And it's quite a good one. It's probably better than some of those I did last week. The other thing I wanted to mention in our This Is Martin's Chit Chat bit at the start of the podcast before we get into the serious question stuff is I wanted to delve into your favourite moment of the podcast record each week. I know what I'm thinking of, and it doesn't actually tend to relate to this podcast, but I think that the listeners would like to hear about it. Do you know what I'm talking about?
