What puts a smile on my face as well as the saving is that spreading of the message.

Jules (0:06)

I'm from way back when you first recommended the goldfish credit card.

Martin Lewis (0:09)

My knowledge is fiscally flabby. Go and find the cheapest deal that you want. You don't need your PACCO to do that. But you just said to me that I had a weird smile on my face. Hello and welcome to the cunningly named The Martin Lewis Podcast. I do wonder what that's gonna be about. And this is our Question Time episode where you are Esquires, extremely savvy questioners. Get to ask me your questions on absolutely anything and everything. Open brackets within reason, closed brackets. Oh, I do like saying that. It's good to be back after the summer. And this week, Neil says he's useless with money and he's worried he's not doing right by his children on their savings. How can he boost it? Jules wants to save money on his family's mobile bills, but needs to know how to stop being stymied because it's a multi-sym account. Andy's daughter sadly has a gambling addiction. He wants to know, is there a way she can ask lenders not to give her money if she tries to get it in future?

Jen wants to know, do you still get Section 75 protection if you pay jointly with a credit card and vouchers? Hannah tells us how she successfully saved her friend money on her mobile.

And Matt, yes, that Matt, wants to know, how do I organize my wardrobe? Play the theme tune.

Hello and welcome to our Question Time Podcast. Yes, this is the one where you can ask me questions on anything and everything, open brackets, within, reason, close brackets. And it's also the one where I am joined by the one, the only, Professor Dr. Sir Matthew Burnham Esquire is back. Add a round of applause in, Matt.

Yes, Matt is our custodian of questions. It is he who decides what the questions are going to be and how the order comes in. Now, just before we recorded this, because this isn't the very first time that we've spoken, and there are two reasons for that. Let's just delve into the secrets. First of all, because we record the questions first, don't we?

Isabelle (2:23)

The callers first, rather.

Martin Lewis (2:25)

So every time I say, I think it's going to be a caller, I tend to know it's going to be a caller, because often we've already recorded it, not every time we've already recorded it.

And also, because obviously we have to set everything up. But you just said to me that I had a weird smile on my face. What was that about?

Matt (2:39)

Yeah, so every time we go to do the intro, I know if something, if I've done something wrong, or if you're going to say something that's going to make me giggle, you do this little rice smile and I was waiting for something. But you said you don't have anything to tell me off about.

Martin Lewis (2:55)

I hadn't actually, it's first question time back. I haven't actually got anything to be annoyed with you about.

Matt (3:01)

Not yet.

Martin Lewis (3:02)

In terms of last week's edit, which is normally where I like to riff on this bit. And I was just smiling, Matt, because it's nice to be back working with you.

Matt (3:10)

It is nice to be back. Thank you. Yeah, Joe, I've really missed it. I've missed having my Martin time, but also the outlet to be silly on a podcast.

Martin Lewis (3:18)

It is, and it's true. Can we just say, and hopefully it doesn't damage with your employers, which are Five Live generally, this is your favourite bit of work you do in the week?

Matt (3:27)

100%. And I'm sure Tom, the editor, won't mind me saying that.

Martin Lewis (3:31)

I think he knows, doesn't he?

Matt (3:32)

I think he knows.

Martin Lewis (3:34)

I think in conversations I've had, I'm pretty sure he knows. So I haven't got anything to do in the intro. I feel I should be either telling you off or applauding you or having a funny story. I've got nothing.

Matt (3:43)

Well, you could just sort of... Have you had a good summer?

Martin Lewis (3:46)

Yeah, I had a very nice summer. I managed to get myself relaxed away, not looking at social media, which is very good for my sort of calmer state, both calmer and calmer state, which is an unintentional pun, but I'm going to stick with the fact that I've done it. And I'm feeling ready to come back. But I have said this before, I consider my job is a bit like being an athlete, not just because it makes me look like one and ripped in the way that I am, but also, don't laugh, but also, because I have to be, to be able to answer things off the top of your head, you have to be constantly working and constantly ingrained and in it. So when I take a few weeks off over the summer, when I come back, it's like I'm slightly out of shape. So I'm always a little bit nervous. Have I got the information?
