So let's get right to it. And we have to go right back to the LA Times, Max.

Max Shapiro (0:15)

Why?

Jordan Okun (0:16)

Because someone wrote in, the 101 is coming, you have sworn off covering it, but are you guys rethinking that? Please say yes.

Max Shapiro (0:31)

I guess it depends.

Jordan Okun (0:32)

Max.

Max Shapiro (0:32)

It depends on who's on the 101 and where they land.

Jordan Okun (0:37)

Is that right?

Max Shapiro (0:38)

I guess.

Jordan Okun (0:39)

I mean, they asked us so nicely. Please say yes. So respectful, so nice. How can we turn that down?

Max Shapiro (0:47)

Yeah. We'll probably not have much more to talk about otherwise.

Jordan Okun (0:53)

So the list is usually too hilarious not to cover.

Max Shapiro (0:58)

Yeah.

Jordan Okun (0:59)

They're hilarious people in many ways.

Max Shapiro (1:01)

But not ha ha funny.

Jordan Okun (1:03)

Pastry chefs that don't know how to turn butter. But I have to say, and the reason we did swear it off is because it did feel stale and it continues to feel that way.

Max Shapiro (1:22)

Yeah. It's the same thing every year. We just complain about the same shit.

Jordan Okun (1:25)

Yeah. So it does feel stale. So I don't know, even though you asked so nicely, so respectfully, I don't know yet. So maybe Max was right as it usually is. Let's wait and see what it looks like.

Max Shapiro (1:37)

We'll be paying attention if we have to do an emergency Zoom pod.

Jordan Okun (1:41)

Maybe we'll do a different. Oh, that's right. Okay, so maybe it should be do like a, maybe we go back to Substack Live. We haven't done one of those in a while.

Max Shapiro (1:51)

If you want to Substack Live, you have to subscribe to the Substack.

Jordan Okun (1:54)

People could like that. People really like the fucking 101 episodes, the annual 101 episodes that we do.

But I am a little bored.

Max Shapiro (2:07)

I'm a little bored and I don't want to be mean anymore.

Jordan Okun (2:10)

Yeah, it's just like.

Max Shapiro (2:11)

I just don't want to.

Jordan Okun (2:12)

Yeah.

Max Shapiro (2:14)

I want to be nice.

Jordan Okun (2:14)

All right. Yeah, we're nice. Max.

Love the pod tension. Keep it up. Thank you so much to that listener. And fuck you, Max.

Max Shapiro (2:28)

Thank you.

Jordan Okun (2:29)

Another tension question.

Max Shapiro (2:31)

Yeah.

Jordan Okun (2:31)

On a scale of 1 to 10

Max Shapiro (2:34)

1 detention.

Jordan Okun (2:35)

1 detention. Where does KB, refusing to come on the pod, land?

So, you skipped an episode recently. Max and I were zooming. What was that episode? What were we talking about?

Max Shapiro (2:52)

Carmel and Sora Craft Kitchen.

Jordan Okun (2:54)

Okay, so we had, on that episode, we had to zoom. And so, Max was home, and KB was home, and she walked by, and Max got distracted and looked at her. It took in all her beauty. I don't blame him for getting distracted by a woman like that walking by him.

But that was part of the reason I don't like zooming. His concentration is never broken here when he's just staring at me.

So she walked by, and he checked her out, and they were talking a little bit. He didn't give a shit that he was on a zoom, and he was asking her about some salad while we were zooming. And then the least he could do while zooming, and losing his concentration, and asking her about her goddamn lunch while I'm trying to do a podcast, the least she could have done was, come on, I asked her to just come in here. I had some questions to ask her. It seemed like the right time. She was there. She was on a break, clearly not working. Max was losing his concentration, as he never does, but did at zooming from home. And then she refused.

Max Shapiro (4:08)

Well, to her credit, she couldn't hear a single word, because I had headphones in, so she couldn't hear anything.

Jordan Okun (4:16)

You would give her the headphones.

Max Shapiro (4:18)

And she has stage fright, not good at the public speaking or anything like that. And she had a mouthful of food.

Jordan Okun (4:28)

I don't know where it breaks.

Max Shapiro (4:29)

She doesn't take a lunch break, by the way. That lunch break was like three minutes.

Jordan Okun (4:33)

I don't know where it lands on the scale of one to 10, but it hurt.
