Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to another episode of Weekly Geek. I am one of your hosts, the foot big, Taylor Field, and I'm joined by...

Dylan Mus (0:09)

Hey, my name is Dylan Mus.

Taylor Field (0:11)

Yes, and we are just running along with more BS meter. We were tackling it last time you and me were together, and we had a hell of a good time, and we've got a whole bunch more stuff that we're going to be breaking down along with some trailers.

Of course, what we've been watching. But yeah, it's going to be a packed episode. Happy to have you guys here, and yeah, we'll do plugs with everything later on, so you can stay tuned to hear everything popping off then. But without further ado, Dylan, how do you want to tackle this? Did we just go in descending order last time, or did we just pick something that was juicy to start?

Dylan Mus (0:47)

I mean, I think these are all pretty juicy. I think we go from the top because the top one is kind of a hot topic thing right now, I would say.

Taylor Field (0:55)

It is. It is. All right, well, re-descend. Re-descend.

Dylan Mus (0:59)

First Marvel BS meter question of the night. Reportedly, Marvel is deciding whether to make the sequel to The Punisher One Last Kill a series or a movie. So there's kind of two parts of this, right? One, that there's a sequel to this happening whatsoever. And then I guess the debate of in what format is this going to happen? And I find this interesting just because the timing of it makes a lot of sense based on just, you know, Spider-Man just, I think, crossed the record today of like the highest grossing movie ever domestically. And you know, a big part of that movie is Frank. So it makes sense that, you know, while the getting is good, Marvel would want to get in on this and make some more Frank content. You know, One Last Kill was nothing special, even though it was a special. And I don't think any of us particularly care much for it.

But I think if this makes sense, maybe like a testing ground, movie comes out, he's in a big movie, I guess. And I think he's a big part of it. And people like him in it, I would say, for the most part, it seems like. So it makes sense to kind of green light something else from him. So yeah, I don't know. I guess, what is your, along with the BS meter part of it, how legit do you think this is?

What is your preference? Would you want a movie or a series with him?

Taylor Field (2:12)

I think a series.

Yeah, because I'm trying to think, I wish there was a survey or some kind of poll where I could see how popular is Spider-Man movie because Frank Castle is in there. Did you see that bug fly in front of me?

Dylan Mus (2:33)

I saw you swat the bug in front of you.

Taylor Field (2:35)

Yeah, he got away, that crafty little guy.

But yeah, I think, is this movie the number one movie in the world because Frank Castle plays a part in that or is because of heavily just Spider-Man and Hulk or what? I like to know that percentage because if there is reasoning, whether they say like, hey, okay, well, Spider-Man did great because of that Frank Castle cameo or appearance, like I don't know about that.

I think you have two very different versions where if you do a movie form, I don't think they're going to do a rated R. I mean, the only one that we got that's rated R is Deadpool and Wolverine, but I don't think they're going to pull that route with Punisher because I think a rated R Punisher movie in theaters, it's not going to make a lot of the box office. It's definitely not going to make Spider-Man brand new day numbers. I think your best bet is to do a TV show because then you will do better with the streaming numbers there. I think Punisher has always done better. I mean, we've had, what was it? I should know this because I did the retro for movies. And so, those movies, they're good. It was fun to break them down and talk about them. But versus the TV show, the TV show just had much more longevity and a lot more story to really develop for the character and bring in other things as well. So I think that's, financially speaking, that's the right direction they should go. And I feel like narrative speaking as well, it's just better for the character all around. Better for the company and the finances and better for the character. Because when you just did that one hour special, I mean, a lot of people had a lot of problems in that special, right?
