Hello y'all, welcome to Every Mom Needs a Friend. I'm Anna. I'm so excited for today's episode because we're chatting about one of my favorite times of the year. Not Christmas, not one of my kids' birthdays, but Girls Trip. But in reality, it really is just a part of the year that I do look forward to. This is our fifth time going on Girls Trip with this group of girls who I talk about in today's episode are near and dear to my heart. I'm trying to think last year how much I talked about it, but this is just something that has been formed and is a time of respite and we all are just thankful for it. So I jump into that in today's episode. One little editor's note, though, I went ahead and recorded the meat of this episode a couple days ago with the hopes that I would record the intro and outro. Don't worry, it's like semantics to you. But for me, I wanted to give you all just like a scheduling update that, you know, just with the hurricane and all the craziness, as we've had to switch locations and that type of thing. Basically, long story short, is that we were supposed to have a boat day on Thursday and it just didn't, it's just not going to work out. There's winds, there's debris, and it's just not going to be the boat day that we all are looking forward to. And it's been funny because in our text thread, that's been the most like controversial, like what do we wear to a boat day, that we're not going to get in the water, and we could be hot, but you don't want to be like in a bathing suit, but you don't want to be in like, you know, stuffy clothes, like it was, it's just been a difficult outfit decision. But that being said, it's not even happening, but we look forward to next year as we will most likely be in PG, in Punta Gorda, because we kind of go back and forth anyway. We will do many boat days next year. So it's one of those like, womp, womp, but then it's like, what are we talking about? Like we're still on Girls Trip, it's still going to be the best. We're going to have a lot of fun. And so anyway, changes in schedules. I know y'all are waiting on the edge of your seat for our schedule update, but I thought I'd just start with that and just let y'all know. Thank you so much for listening to today's episode. Let's go ahead and jump in.
Oh my goodness. Yeehaw. We are at Girls Trip already, y'all. I am so overjoyed to say that this episode, as you're listening to it, if you're listening to it on Monday, I am already on Girls Trip. I've been on it for a couple of days, but whenever you're listening to it, just know that I have this Girls Trip that we go to every year with eight, I should say nine, but I'm one of those, so it's eight other gals, and I am so excited. It is something I look forward to truly all year. And this year, I was supposed to host at my parents' place in Punta Gorda, Florida, but with the hurricane, we had to shift back to just like an hour and a half south, which is just crazy how hurricanes can affect one area and not the other. I'm like, duh. But Naples didn't get hit as hard, and that's where my friend Tanis, who we went, I think, just last year was just the last Girls Trip to Naples. So typically, Tanis and I, or at least how we've decided, is we want to switch back and forth. We don't want anybody to have to host two years in a row, because although it's our fifth time doing this, and most of it's just kind of a rinse and repeat each year, it is just an extra pressure, and Tanis is pregnant with her fifth. So just for many reasons, we thought let's put it in PG this year, Punta Gorda, as we call Punta Gorgeous. And we were really excited to go there, but with the hurricane, it just affected that town so bad. So we will go there next year. Very exciting. But for this year in Naples, we have, let's see, we're starting on a Thursday, ending on a Monday. Although I go, I plan to go down a day ahead, which I am going to do. So I'm going a Wednesday to a Monday, which can we just pause and reflect on how much time that is? Wow. And I've chatted with girlfriends about this, that going out of town, like as a mom, is so important. It's important to do that. It's important to make sure we make time for that, if you're able to. And for me, at least, it feels like just such a rush to the finish line, just to get on the airplane to leave, you know, all the prepping and all the planning. And for us, this is the first time that we're living in Louisville going on Girls Trip. So that means we have the family support that we've never had before. So in a very hands-off approach, I've been like, Christopher, I'm going to do a bunch of planning, but also you can lean on your mom. You can lean on my parents. So I do feel like this is going to be a different year from that stretch that I'm not especially flying from West Coast with different time changes and that type of thing. But we are excited to be on this Girls Trip. And I wanted to quickly just like talk you through the schedule events. I don't know if this is a thing that y'all care to know about, but at least in my friend group, we are really big about having it all organized and ahead of time. There's a couple type A and type B moms in the group. Which, oh yeah, that brings me to, I want to do my big question real quick. So let's pause real quick before we get into the schedule and let's go ahead and do the big question. So warm up your hands. One, two, three. Okay. Today, I'd like to know, do you think you are a type A or a type B mom? Let me quickly give y'all the definition of both so you can figure out which one you are. Okay, so I pulled it up, but I do feel like this is kind of like, I don't know, trendy, like people are talking about, oh, I'm more a type B mom. Like my sister-in-law, Molly, love her to death, but she's like, oh, I'm a type B mom, which she is, can be very organized. She can, she's so on top of it. She rarely like misses things, at least for me. But, you know, we get in her car and she's like, oh, yeah, there's weeks of stuff. We could live out of my car. So I don't know if that's like a good example, like real life example of a type A versus type B mom. I don't know if I claim to be a true type A mom. I think it's also in relation to others. So like maybe compared to Molly, I'm type A, she's type B. But then compared to other people, I believe I'm type B. I also want to make sure to say there's not one that's better than another. But okay, type A is described as people with personalities that are ambitious, aggressive, and competitive. Maybe that is me. I don't know. People with type B personalities may be laid back, flexible, and patient. So going back to the MJ perspective, I think one of the things I always think about when I think about Molly is she is so patient. She doesn't hold grudges. I really think that that's something I wish people described me as. I don't think I'm like this huge grudge bearer, but I just know that Molly is someone who lets goes, lets go of things. I'm just so appreciative of that influence in my life. So but she does proclaim herself as a type B mom. So that's that. But so like I said, in our friend group, as we go on this girl's trip, this is our fifth year and one of our sweet friends, Tannis, is hosting, and so she sent out the itinerary. So I arrive on a Wednesday. Everyone else arrives on a Thursday morning. All of us live in Louisville, except for our friend Camille, who lives in Nashville. And it is like one of those like tender spots for me because I've done the last four years away and she's done all five away.
