Man, I go on this trip and I blow it. I'm not coming home, you know, which is real in the line of stress, is not coming home is at the top of that list. But ironically, it's amazing. It's been amazing to me, the thought of starting Protect Our Winners, the fear that was tied to that. So the starting of Stoneboard Company, the fear that's tied to that.
And so it's interesting to have how much these societal fears actually weigh me down more than these in-the-mountain fears. And I guess I've learned that when I'm like, man, I've never done this before, I'm out of my comfort zone.
Those instead of running from that, which maybe I would have in the past, I'm like, ooh, this is when the good stuff happens. But it's not about being reckless. It's, ooh, this is when the good stuff happens. Let's stack the deck as much in my favor as we can to have success in that. And then that's where you go in with fine detail and try to stack that deck for success.

Okay, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery Podcast. I'm Michael Gervais and by trade in training, I'm a sports and performance psychologist, as well as the co-founder of Compete to Create. And if you haven't checked out Compete to Create, I encourage you to do so. We've got an incredible online program that is basically the essence of training the mind. And we've used good science and we've also used the innovations from my partner, head coach Pete Carroll, to be able to create something that is what we think is really special to be able to condition and train the mind. So I hope you check that out. Pete to create.net forward slash Finding Mastery. And the whole idea behind this podcast, behind these conversations, is to learn from people who are on the path of mastery and to better understand what they're searching for. We want to understand their psychological framework. How do they organize their inner life? What is it that they do to make sense of the world around them? That's essentially psychological framework. And then what are the mental skills that they use to build and refine their craft?
I want to take a minute here to announce a really exciting event that we have coming up. As you continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2024, I want to pose a question. What are you doing right now to be great with stress? How are you working with stress on your pursuit towards your most important ambitions and goals? And I just want to get right to the heart of the key elements, one in particular, for what it takes to excel in today's high heat, high stakes world. Because stress is not the problem that we think it is. Stress is a synonym for change. And our ability to be agile with change, that is the real opportunity at hand. So if you're wanting to unlock extraordinary results and sustainable performance in your life, it's not about avoiding or reducing stress. And as simple as that sounds, it's very tricky to do, but it is about fundamentally changing your relationship with it.
And that's why I'm so thrilled to invite you to a special event. It's a free virtual event that we're offering, and it's called The Power of Embracing Stress. It's on Wednesday, March 6th at 2 p.m. Pacific. So to sign up, just head over to findingmastery.com/training. Whether it's advancing in your career or improving your health or cultivating stronger relationships, I think a new approach to stress can be one of the most powerful unlocks for you in your life.
