Hi, guys, welcome back to I'll Read What She's Reading. I'm Mikayla.
Reggie (0:12)
I'm Reggie.
Kennedy (0:12)
And I'm Kennedy.
Mikayla (0:14)
And today, we're coming to you with some thriller recommendations. But this time, we're putting a little bit of twist on...
Kennedy (0:22)
Twist.
Mikayla (0:25)
on our thriller recommendations, mostly because we feel like we haven't read enough thrillers to recommend, like, quality recommendations for you guys.
Kennedy (0:38)
I say this every fall. Yeah, I'm gonna read more thrillers than I ever do.
Mikayla (0:41)
But instead of recommending... Well, we are recommending thrillers, but we're just adding a thriller TBR. So you can add them if they sound good to you. If they don't sound good, you don't have to add it. But they're books we have not read yet before, and it's just a thriller TBR. Thrillers we want to read. That sounds interesting to us. So I have a feeling I'm probably going to add a few more from these two, just because I feel like all of the thrillers that are recommended to me or, like, on the top thriller list are ones that I have already read. And so I'm like, I want to find some new ones. That maybe aren't as popular or maybe not as well known.
So that hopefully can knock my socks off, be a good twist. I don't guess it.
Kennedy (1:34)
Yeah, I feel like the bare minimum for a thriller is it needs to make somewhat sense. And it has to hook me, I would say, from, like, yeah, chapter five.
Reggie (1:45)
Yeah.
Mikayla (1:46)
Yup, yup.
Reggie (1:47)
That's it.
Kennedy (1:49)
Who wants to start?
Reggie (1:50)
I can start. All right. This one sounds interesting to me. This one's called The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia.
So it's about these two women who, it says they have nothing but everything in common. And they're just, like, on the same plane. And after a few days, they both send the same text messages about the same man to their friends. I don't know. So these text messages start to become kind of strange. And then both of these women vanish.
So they're both declared missing and in danger. And you're trying to figure out who is this man that they have been texting. And what did he do to them or what did they do to him? So it says, the business trip takes you on a descent into the depths of a mastermind manipulator, but who is playing who?
So I feel like this is a good one for me because...
Kennedy (2:58)
No children involved.
Reggie (2:59)
No children involved.
Mikayla (3:00)
Yeah.
Reggie (3:01)
Which I will say, I did have, what one was it? Kill for Me, Kill for You on my TBR and someone messaged me and said, you might want to rethink reading that one.
Kennedy (3:10)
Oh.
Reggie (3:11)
I said, great. Thanks.
I appreciate people looking out for me. So yeah, I appreciated it. But now I'm like, wait, dang. She said I need to respond to her and tell her. She's like, I can tell you, it's just like kind of a spoiler. So I'm trying to decide if I should just read it and then we'll see. But anyways, it doesn't look like there's children involved. So I love that.
And I love a thriller that gives you a lot of questions before you even start the book. Like sometimes, you know, you see like a concept and you're like, okay, this sounds cool.
I wonder what's going to happen. But like there are so many questions I already have based off of the synopsis. And I'd be curious to know like whose point of view this book is in. You know, like is it their friends that are receiving the message? Is it the women that go missing? Yeah. Is it the man? Is it multiple? I don't know. It just sounds like one of those things that's going to keep me on the edge of my seat, but also, what's the word I'm looking? I like trying to like piece puzzles together that are with this kind of plot.
Kennedy (4:18)
Like a who done it, but it's not a who done it.
Mikayla (4:20)
Like who done it, but like, why done it?
Reggie (4:22)
Why, who, what, when, where, why? Yeah.
Kennedy (4:25)
Yeah.
Reggie (4:25)
I like that I have all those questions already and I haven't even started the book. So that's The Business Trip by Jesse Garcia.
Mikayla (4:32)
That does sound really intriguing.
Kennedy (4:34)
I love it.
Mikayla (4:35)
I love it. Okay.
Okay. This one that I'm adding is The Woman in Cabin 10 Oh, okay.
