Hello, everyone, and welcome to this special episode of Cloud Wars, brought to you by our friends at Oracle. My guest today is Chris Leone, Executive Vice President of Applications Development, and Chris and I will be discussing some new innovations that Oracle is bringing to its Fusion Agentic Applications. Chris, welcome. Always a pleasure to see you.

Chris Leone (0:27)

It is great to be here, Bob.

Bob Evans (0:29)

Chris, wild times here today, and looks like you've just made this major announcement that's set to take your agentic applications to the next level with the inclusion of claw technology. So Chris, I was hoping to set the stage, you could tell us what Fusion Claw is, how it's different from other claw technologies, and what problems this is going to solve for your customers.

Chris Leone (0:52)

Sure.

Let me start a little bit at the beginning. So for us, we set out to really change how enterprise applications behave and run. So we truly think that applications are moving from more AI, kind of assisting people in getting work done, to AI truly running the business, and truly running the business, and doing the work more and more autonomously. So we started, and you've been a big fan of agentic applications, we started with Fusion Agentic Applications, kind of merging AI and applications under one umbrella. And what agentic applications did and continues to do, is really to kind of reorganize how we deliver applications and solutions to our customers around an outcome. So now we can define an outcome-based application, like pay people on time and within policy, and everything that the application focuses on, how it moves work forward 24 by 7, is all around achieving that outcome. But we recognized if we were going to solve more of the harder, higher value, more complex types of solutions in the enterprise. And if you think about those types of solutions, it'd be something a financial analyst does, or an inventory planner does, or maybe a supply chain planner does. These are more sophisticated, higher value solutions. We needed a different type of governed agentic execution capability to be able to solve those reconciliation, optimization, simulation type problems. And so that's where we came up with the idea of Fusion Claw, which is what we're announcing. And what Fusion Claw does is it takes on those higher value, longer running type projects. And so we were inspired by some of the earlier Claw applications out there. Obviously, Open Claw was the first to give a computer AI.

But we took a completely different approach. It's very different for the enterprise. So we are looking at how we take this technology, but put a governance layer around it. So we can execute long running, high value work around some of these specialty solutions, but do it in a very controlled, governed way.

Bob Evans (3:12)

Yeah, and Chris, a couple of things that you mentioned there, I think really goes to the heart of this. You're not telling people, oh, you're going to have to come up with an entirely new way of doing your work and a new way of it. But instead to say, let's put the thing you're all really after up at the top of the stack, the outcomes. Exactly. Everything play off of that.

Chris Leone (3:32)

Exactly right.

So if you think about how applications are traditionally organized, it's very task-based.

You go if you want to do scheduling for a system, you go into the time card area of the application and work on time cards. You go into the absences and make sure people can take the right absences. And then you go look at the schedule and see if you're fully utilized for your schedule. And we said, like, that's just the wrong approach in the agentic world. Now we want to be able to say, hey, we want to optimize the schedule and make sure we have the right people at the right hospital, at the right bed, at the right time. And that's the outcome we're trying to achieve. And everything else gets organized around that. But now, if we need to make sure that we're always staffed at the right level with the right skills and optimized at the right cost structure, we can leverage Fusion Claw to go do that work. So we can give it a problem and say, hey, look, we need to be at 95% telemetry in these five hospitals. Go figure out how to get that work done. And it'll look at different scenarios. Do I allow more overtime? Or I allow nurses to go from one hospital to another? And look at a bunch of different scenarios. Do that hard work and come back with an answer and say, this is the outcome that we can achieve and we can do it more and more autonomously, meaning we could just get it back in research mode and have the user say, okay, execute. Or we could just go do the work and execute it. And so now we can solve harder, deeper problems and optimize the business around using technologies like Fusion Claw.
